P1000 Money Pit #2

Traded in my ranger 570 after having enough of the belt driven hot box. I picked up my 17 Shale Blue 1000-3 10/24/17. Not my first choice of color but the dealer was extremely nice and had the best deal as they have sat on them for some time. I cant decide if I want to swap the plastics or linex them on down the road. Actually traded last sat but couldn't pick it up until yesterday so in the mean time I ordered wheels/tires, headlights, windshield, radio, speakers, winch mount kit etc which are slowly trickling in this week.

I do alot of fabrication so in the near future I'll be fabing up front/rear bumpers, rock sliders and who knows what else.

Stupid question Im sure but I see a lot about the honda heat comfort kit. I noticed I already have the rubber pieces around the seat belts as well as the rubber heat shield piece under the seat. Is this it or is it something else?

All the 17’s have the rubber matting. That is not the comfort kit. Very doubtful machines on the floor have this installed as many customer are still waiting to get theirs for sold units.

The comfort kit works in mine, has air defectors behind the seat also.

@nbomar is correct, my 7/17 production date LE had a rubber mat under the seat. If yours has a round hole in it above the subtrans dip stick, then it's not the latest heat fix.

It does have the hole. The heat was kind of nice sat when it was 42* and raining while riding a local park. I'll leave the other on order and have it installed sometime in the future.

Friday was a busy day as I got my windshield, wheel/tires, synthetic winch cable and winch kit.

Headlights finished first

Super atv windshield on


Winch installed and temporarily hooked the wires up so we could ride sat morning.


Not near as muddy as I expected after Saturdays ride.

My comfort kit has a rubber flaps all the away across the bottom of the seat, no holes, that make checking fluid levels a pain. Plus I reinstalled the assessorie heat insulating pad and glued heat insulating pad to the bottom of the rear floor boards and it's great now!

Sorry about that. Yeah outback max. They were roughly 50lbs each according to the shipping label. I didn't notice any power loss FWIW and they ride really smooth over 5mph.

Made a little progress on lunch. Got a switch/radio panel cut from 1/8" ABS plastic and my overhead rzr speaker enclosure arrived. Speaker enclosure is for two 6" speakers. I had to trim some of the front of the housing so it would sit flush with the roof. I wanted to use the roof flashing trick again but not enough flat space on the honda roof.
