Just spotted this today while cleaning. Would you all replace or repair tire and is there a better fix if possible. It’s not leaking but I’m ocd about stuff.

If you are damaging tires like that out riding, you may consider repairing it and then make it a spare. Then get a takeoff tire and wheel and replace it.

Or get better tires and forget it? Stock tires are terrible. Been there done that.

I worked at a tire shop for five years (2 decades ago) rule always was if you can see the nylon (looks like you can on yours ) it’s no good. Not to say you couldn’t use it as a spare but I’ve seen a lot of sidewalls fail for less. Cost of a tire doesn’t seem worth it if your deep into a trail and get a flat. Even if your prepared with a jack and a spare it’s usually never convenient. Someone else stated above the stock bighorns aren’t the most durable. If it’s in the budget maybe upgrade to something stiffer.

Is your Talon insured? If so, what's the deductible?

The wheel & tire are damaged. Retail price on the tire and wheel is probably around $500 - $600 plus labor.

A Talon is capable of 75 mph and can easily cruise at 50 mph. If you drive it on public roads at speed I would replace the tire. If it's only driven off-road at low trail speeds in conditions that might cause similar damage again I would drive it as is. Most owners want to replace their tires (and wheels).

That tire and wheel would make a good spare.

Put an inner tube in it. I did that to a brand new tire of mine that got a side wall gash 3 years ago and I use it as a spare. Has been fantastic when i needed it and holds air great. The tube cost me 20$

Did the same on my left front tire at about 600 miles. Took the tire off the wheel and put about a 2 X 2 patch on the inside. Glued the flap down and it held up fine until 3000 miles when I put on new tires.
