At least you have some aluminum skills lol. I'd love to be able to work that stuff it frustrates me
For me it's not so much the skill but that I don't have the welder that can do it. I've got a large trailer mounted Lincoln stick and a portable MIG, but seems like aluminum takes a TIG or something.

Oh ok, when you said expanded PVC, all I could think of was expanded metal. Is that available in other thicknesses? That would have been great for mopar's trailer build.

Mopar knows about it and It would work ok for the sides but would have to be reinforced for that application because in 1/4 it's too flimsy. Someone could use it for roof material for the sxs in 1/4 I suppose. It's cool stuff

Well, his 3/8" plywood is reinforced with 2x2's. Is 1/4" the thinnest it's available in? And where do you get it from, is it in the big box stores??

You can order it in at Home Depot and lowes. From 3mm to 19mm which is 3/4. Its definitely not as rigid as plywood so in big spans it needs more braces but is solid

I'm thinking the 19mm glued over that plywood for a completely waterproof set up.

You can put a spool gun on the mig welder with an aluminum spool and use pure argon for the shielding gas. But not every mig welder accepts a spool gun I don't think. That's probably the easiest/cheapest way to get an aluminum welding setup, assuming you already have a spool gun ready mig welder.

I'll have to check it out when I'm where my MIG is next week. Thank you.

No I said 3 but I have just found it down to 1mm thick.
Indeed you did CP, well then by all means, that's what I'd use, absolutely no concerns about moisture then. I'm a bit concerned about the effects of this many miles on just a painted plywood box.

Nice thing about this stuff it's super slick so stuff would slide off of it nicely and the color goes all the way through the plastic
