St. Helen ORV Jam [Aug 9-11, 2018] (Richfield Township, MI)
St. Helen ORV Jam 2019
Below we have listed the "exciting changes we are looking forward to for this years event!"
1) We are continuing to grow as an event especially the kids participation, with this growth in mind we are adjusting and breaking out our classes to keep it fair for the kids classes! We also want to remind everyone that ages 12-18 will require a DNR safety certificate to participate. This is the same rule as riding in the trails and we will post on our Facebook page information on upcoming ORV safety courses locally.
2) We will be adjusting our Sunday Mud bog classes to be based on tire size instead of engine size to be as fair as possible to all participating because it is nearly impossible to determine what should be considered upgrade or a modification. For example; technically a snorkel would be a modification, however today's ATVs & SXSs can be purchased with "stock packages" that include them. We will also add a special award at the end of the mud bog. During our free mudding show participants in the mud bog will be able to show off for the crowd and the crowd will choose the 2019 Freestyle Mud Champion!
3) The Richfield Department of Public Safety will be active again in this years event. They will be watering the sand drag strip to keep dust down & filling the mud pits to help prepare for the mud bog. They also will be rinsing off machines for donations on Sunday! This is very exciting and we hope everyone makes it worth their efforts!
4)Friday night show & shine will be open to ALL ORV vehicles. We will have a panel of judges, a few chosen from the crowd, to choose the best overall contestant for each category. Categories for 2019 include: ATV,Dirtbike,SXS,Dune Buggies, Jeep, Truck, Open (for unique ORVs that just don't quite fit into one category or another). This is exciting for us because it is the first year that we are truly able to include every ORV vehicle. We still CANNOT allow any vehicles other than ATVs, SXS, & dirtbikes to participate in the mud & sand events due to the size of our tracks.
5) Aaron Goldman owner of North Starters, will be hosting the Audio competition again this year Friday night. This years audio competition will also be open to ALL ORV vehicles. Last years audio competition received recognition in the national magazine, Mobile Electronics!
6)We added an off road scavenger hunt as well this year as another opportunity for all ORV vehicles to be able to participate. We will hide 5 medallions throughout the local trails and provide clues to find them. There will also be a medallion hunt for the kids, this medallion will be hidden on the main event grounds. Thank you Eric for handling that new addition for us!
Phew.. That's a lot, but super exciting and we're proud to say that we feel we have made the right changes and additions to this years event to be a successful 4th year!
