Got the 8” fan from amazon coming. What size fuse are y’all using on this?

Got this one that most folks on here have installed. Just wondering what fuse they used.

Well... it says right on it... 80 watts.

80 watts divided by 12volts (nominal) is 6.6667 amps or so. If you are using the correct wire, a 10 amp fuse should do you just fine. That is what is on mine with nothing else powered by that circuit.

You learned something new! Now you know how to figure it out by yourself for the next circuit you need...

Can anyone on here fabricate a fan shroud for these 7” rad fans to help in mounting and give it a little more rigidity? Maybe out of aluminum?

Just zip tie it

What @JTW said it has to go in such an odd angle it would be very difficult to for the average person to fab a shroud. Make sure you use GOID zip ties none of that Harbor Freight crap.

Just finished installing mine, it's the same fan mentioned above from Amazon. I had the piece of aluminum in my toolbox don't know where it came from. Seems to be pretty solid. You have to get creative with mounting these, not a lot of options under the seat.

I used a couple of windshield sunshields from Wal-mart as the first attempt a few years ago while we on a week long camping/riding trip in Arkansas. When we got home, I redid the heat shielding with the same material purchased as a roll from Home Depot.

When the recall from Honda came out, I let them do it; but the guy at the service dept said my heat shield was better than the Honda fix.

I've also added a 4" bilge fan aimed towards the exhaust and a couple of radiator fans overhead With these additions, it's tolerable in the Texas heat

At 92 and 94% humidity nothing works! HA!

I haven't seen any post about removing the doors. I took mine off (4 bolts), and my cab temperature was reduced dramatically. I made the mistake of a full glass windshield, and the heat problem was unbearable. I also have added the under seat insulation and may add a fan in the future. I have yet to go out on a dusty trail with the doors off, and I may be in for some real dust problems. At least I can ride with some degree of comfort now.

Damn, this is good stuff.............
I thought I would have to get a divorce to stop the complaining, but with all these tips perhaps I can salvage my marriage. LOL

I'm definitely going to add the fan after seeing all this "how to" info. Is there a reason to wire the fan for anything but on and off (SPST)? Would there be a need to reverse the air flow or to use a rheostat?

One last question (I hope) regarding the size of the fan. The fans I've been looking at are 7", 8", and 10". Should I be concerned that my single battery will not handle the load and that I may required to add another battery. What size would you recommend?

Thanks to all of you guys who are contributing.

Trying to keep a long story short...
So, as i was also trying to figure a decent way to mount this dang 8" fan. I came up with these z brackets. The 8" fan is a little tight cause it sits on the engine a bit (hopefully it can take the heat)
But we'll see.
The brackets are 1/2" diff in size to try and get a good angle. There length is about 3-7/8 and 3-3/8.
It seems it will allow to 180° the fan from winter to summer. I also found a vent that fits decent. A little small, but looks good. (Still waiting on 3 more from the slow boat).
So i do have about 10 extra pair of brackets if anybody thinks they can use a set.
I'm not all that tech savvy. But if you message me, we can set something up. Think it'll be roughly 7 bucks for shipping.

Does that vent work okay? Does it blow hot air well?

Looks like nice job. Is it effective?

How did you wire it up? Do you have rocker switch wired directey to the battery with two wires going to the fan? I can't quite picture the wiring. Would you recommend a 7" or 8" fan? Any specific switch?
