I worked at the shipyards and saw a lot of ships come in like that. The ice is so dangerous too. It makes the ship top heavy. Funny for a navy ship to let that get that thick even at dock. Cool though. Haha

You have to break the ice off with a wooden mallet, and don’t hit the frames. Haha. There was a big guy, all mussels, we called him hammer head. Haha. He was breaking ice one day with a pin maul. It’s a 10 lb sledgehammer with a point on one side. And he hit the frame. Bang, bang. Come back and hit him right between the eyes. Would have killed a normal person. Haha. Never hit between the frames. Haha
