We have heavy rain all afternoon and evening. Supposed to last until noon tomorrow. Heavy winds to go with it. Really glad we don’t really have to worry about tornadoes. Thank god.
Thinking of everyone down south.
Stay safe.

We got a blast of warm air from the down South winds that blew at 40 to 60+ for most of the day. No problems except the usual snow off the roof froze with the rain that came instead of snow. Tractor slipped and slid without chains but I did get things cleaned up in the dark.

Just reported on TV that death toll could reach 150. Looks like there may be 70 in the candle factory. Hope all ya'll are OK!!

That sucks. 70 people. It must have been a huge factory.

Wasn't to bad after realized had some help. We cut it out of road so we could get around it. They are cutting pines in bottoms. They have to finish moving it before hauling any logs out.
I always take my chainsaw to the camp. For trails mostly, but there have been a couple cross the road going in.

Yes Sir...12" Husky lives in my truck...does a great job with a sharp chain. Big Stihl is great for making big piles of wood but the little fellow is so handy...been thinking I need another for the Pioneer. I carry a battery sawsall and a fresh 6 AH battery does a LOT of cutting with a 9" blade but it ain't a chain saw. It does fit in my dirt bike boxes and is great for fire wood when you can have a fire.

Just heard 80 dead in KY...the pictures remind me of hurricane Camile. I ran a big Case loader clearing streets and we had to be careful not to tear up bodies in the rubble...makes me remember how fragile life really is. Good luck to all the storm victims!!

Thanks Cap. One tornado was on the ground for 227 miles, 200 of it in Kentucky, in many cases they can’t go door to door to check on people as there are no doors. Death toll in Kentucky now believed will top 100 Kentuckians…..☹️

Never ride without a saw. The one mounted here is a very light 12” arborist saw, with a sharp chain always on it, it’s very capable…..😎

That’s crazy. Do many people in Kentucky have basements. Around here, most houses have basements below ground.
227 miles, that’s hard to believe. What kind of speed does a tornado usually travel at.

We lost two Arkansan’s in northeast Arkansas, outside Jonesboro….
Miraculously though the entire roof was sucked off a senior home, only one life was lost of the 67 residents….

I’ve seen pictures on tv of a roof getting sucked off a house , and all the China figurines sitting where they were. Crazy

Nice set up. Do I get to ride that one when I come down ? 😊
At supper Friday night, my friends want to set up a trip to Vegas. Not NM Vegas. 😊
Caper
Yes, you get to ride that one…
And if you are going to go to Vegas, the original Vegas along the Santa Fe trail, the major 19th century trade route in America is far superior to the city created by the mafia in the middle of a desert, the original sin city….😂

What kind of speed does a tornado usually travel at.
Well that greatly varies, the flatter and more level the ground, the greater suction and strength of a tornado, hilly and mountainous terrain tends to slow, weaken and often break up a tornado. I grew up in Cali where there are no tornados. When I moved to Dallas I recall people amazed that anyone would live in a place with earthquakes, but in my 40 years living in the Midwest, I’ve seen vastly more death and destruction from tornadoes, a wicked scourge…..

I'm pretty good at the card game Pitch, same as Black Jack just no money involved. Ended out in Las Vegas on a business trip and I took a trip down to the Black Jack tables stood around watching looking like a dumb hick. The dealer had been eying me and asked me if I would like to play, I replied, I've never played Black Jack, can you teach me? I'll help you she replied. So I sat down and listened to the rules of Black Jack from her, still acting like a hick. The first 3 or 4 rounds I followed her advice and lost, she thought she a had a ringer. I have very good peripheral vision and was card counting and started winning most hands, still acting like a lucky hick, then I learned about doubling down, this is where my card counting came to shine and got up on the house $6,000.00, then they switched dealers, decks and brought the pit bosses in to watch the lucky hick, I got intoxicated, well I ended up up with $2,000.00 of there money and went to the room! Life and Times of Smitty!

I had an FJ Crusier. 08.
And that’s what my FJ40 was , a ‘74. It was a tank. I actually pulled a city bus full of people up a street in a snowstorm one day. Everyone was clapping on the bus, and the driver said if he didn’t see it, he would never have believed it. My brother put a fuel injection on it for me. Really improved mileage and worked a lot better.
The 08 was a beast also. I have a buddy with a Jeep, I told him when he got stuck, call me and I’ll come get you, but be sure I’ll bring my camera. He was stuck by himself a few times, once for a full day, and no way would he call me. Haha

FJ40 and snow memories! My 74, owned from ‘78-83. May have already mentioned it, but Norfolk Va area had a rare blizzard like 20” in 1980, National Guard called in and I worked in my FJ with a Police handheld as a “Mobile Medic”. Warn 8k# winched a fire truck and road grader and blasted through drifts to transport patients. Fun as a 20-something, but enjoyed top off summers the most at NC Outer Banks. Kept the plate, all thats left of the FJ.
