FJ's lasted longer when the inline stayed in 'em. V8's were the cool thing to do but led issues even though the drivetrain was fairly stout. That said, my first night in the desert in the early eighties I rode with this guy who had a 396 BB with a three speed. LMflatlandera**O! Sorry to hijack, but dusted off a memory...

What year is that FJ?.I had a 71,72,and a 74 with the 350 Chevy conversion.In my opinion,the 6's were better.My 71 was like your light blue one.If I remember correctly,my 71 was 3 speed on the tree.
1974, 4 on the floor, 6 cyl. Bought it from older guy that put headers and upgraded ignition, otherwise stock. A month later was riding around one night and heard Jeeps stuck in woods on the CB. My FJ was an anchor for their winching out of a field. Turns out they owned a 4x4 shop and offered me a 8274 at their cost for helping. Also wish they still made Mind Blower amped speakers I had back then. That said, driving the P500 reminds me of the same FJ4O experience.

Nice warm day to ride all 3 toys to charge batteries and enjoy the mud. Rancher, Xplorer 400 and P500 all clean for the next mud bath.

A little late night ride in the snow here in Washougal WA. Trying to figure out to upgrade to bigger tires without my wife finding out.View attachment 176865
She'll buy in after she participates in an unstuck event. And if she's piloting and experiencing the anemic 24's in action she'll want to know why you haven't bought tires sooner...

Changed the oil, filter, and did the rear diff (I'd never done it at 3700 miles ).

This time I changed it up and used supertech synthetic ATV/UTV in 10-30. Weird how the 10-30 is under $6, but the "motorcycle" 10-40 or 20-50 is like $9. Shore does look purdy when it's new.:p

I have a new Honda air filter. They are supposed to come pre-oiled...and there is some on it, but Sure seems like there isn't enough. Not sure if I'm gonna run it as-is, or hit it with whatever I have laying around.

@lee is the "stock" filter oil no toil? Think someone else said that. Doesn't it wash off with just soap and water?

I really don't like dipping the filters in gas, but it sure is easy that way.

1st ride on supertech oil seems encouraging. Seems to shift a bit smoother. I think this is probably just the thinner oil (10-30 vs 5-40), though I did change rear diff with thicker gear lube (I think), so maybe that helped as well.

No complaint about the Rotella. Just wanted to try something else. It'll be interesting to see how oil useage goes.

That's the icy stuff we're suppose to get this time of the year, lol !!!
Yea we get some of that pretty white stuff about once every 2 to 3 years here in central Mississisippi. Beautiful stuff when we get to play in it for about 2 or three days before it's gone again for the next few years.

I got stuck going up a steep hill, with about 6" of snow over an icy bottom. However, the schoolbus Teryx made it up and he hauled me the rest of the way. Oh, the shame of it all...
