I’m getting ready to install Viper Max SE 4000 winch and plate on my Pioneer 1K. Any tips, tricks, pointers, whimsical quotes to get the job done easier?

Well,
Fairly standard winch install.
Do you have the mount instructions? --> http://shopping.na1.netsuite.com/c....7.1771562735.1544714990-1197887414.1543261237

Choose wired remote location wisely.
Some like it inside glove box so they can keep it plugged in for quick grab and go. I kinda like that idea but didn't do it.
Some install up front hear the grill for easy access. I should have done that.
I chose by the CIG plug. Not sure I like it but its there and I'm not moving it.

Not sure your skill level so hit us back with questions.
Thanks.

Only suggestion I have is do not tighten any bolts until the bumper is back installed.
Take your time installing it. Enjoy the time spent getting to know your machine!
Consider using a hole saw to create a relief on the plastic fenders/flares to allow easier access to the free spool knob.
In this general area, on the correct side.

Like @Hondasxs mentioned. Choose remote location wisely.
Like him, I put mine a few inches beside the cigarette lighter port. With my 10' remote, it allows me to walk around the machine with remote in hand if needed. It also allows me to hold in hand while switching gears snowplowing.

Thanks! I kind of like the glovebox idea but will wait to decide

If you also install the manual in/out switch in the cab or upgrade to a wireless remote, it's not a bad idea to wire it through an on/off switch for safety. Might keep someone from accidentally spooling the winch in.

First decide how and where you plan to control the winch. Do you want a rocker switch on the dash? Do you want a handheld control? Wireless?

The first thing I do is throw the hard wired remote in a box with all the others from over the years and get a wireless remote. There are good aftermarket options but I bought a warn. I LOVE the wireless remote. Its probably my favorite accessorie. I also have a dash mounted rocker switch to use when I am inside the vehicle. I use my wireless remote all the time.

Should you choose the hard wired route and decide to change later, warn makes a wireless remote with a receiver that plugs into that socket.

Agreed. I set mine so the winch has continuous power through a big breaker and just the switch is powered by an on/off switch.

Any tips on connecting the toggle and wired remote plug wire to the ignition switch?

havent used that one taps that cut cut through and ruin the oem strands, i always solder and heat shrink everything on quads. thats the only method that you dont have to worry about coming loose or corroding down the road.

if yu want to be able to wind the rope your self you will have to put the remote somewhere you can reach it from the front. i had a wireless one last time and didnt seem worth the expense, battery was dead when i needed it in the cold and ended up using the corded and switch anyway thats all you need really is to be able to direct it back in
