Best was my `98 Chevy 2wd with 27mpg.

Worst was my 1987 Ford E350 Pathfinder Quadravan 4x4 with a 425hp 460 V8 and 35" tires.

Incredible vehicle for camping and exploring the Arizona backcountry, but it was incredibly unreliable and got 5-6mpg. Just awful.

my 89 tbi 350 5spd got pretty easy 22-23 going over the limit on the hwy.
the worst was probably the 99 Yukon was around 14 till I replaced the poppet crap with the mpfi upgrade then it was like 18-19 local with decent all terrains
avalanche is 18 local 20-22 hwy. no cyl deactivation bs to break

the old jeeps maybe 10-12maybe. but I never cared figure it out, not driving it that far anyway

My worst was a close tie. First was a 93 f250 4x4 351 5 speed 8 mpg no matter conditions and the other was a 98 2500 4x4 suburban 454 auto also 8mpg loaded or empty. Both pulled great. I now use either my 2016 1500 silverado 5.3 auto. Got 7mpg pulling from Columbus to the takeover or I also have a 2001 GMC 3500 8.1l allison. 10 mpg regardless of the load. Of all I've towed with the suburban was the one I miss. I got rid of it in Hope's of finding better and have not.

Did you have the emergency brake on?? My `87, `97, and `01 Pathfinder 4x4s all got at least 17mpg hwy.
Yep. I had a ‘92 Pathfinder (cut the cab, welded on pickup king cab and added a cut down bed) with an ‘89 turbo 300zx 5 speed that I loved. It only got about 16 but I ran it like it was the z-car. Thing was tough as hell

Worst mileage truck ever was a 78 built 440 4speed heavy 1/2 4x4 Ram. 7-8mpg. Did it all up nice back about 25 years ago. Loved that truck a lot. Saw it a couple years back in the wrecking yard, broke my heart

Best mileage is my current. ‘93 Cummins 5-speed 2wd. Doesn’t matter what it’s doing at what speed, it’ll get 25mpg and I drive it hard. Funny thing is it’s the same basic truck as my 78 was but has double the power and triple the mileage.

First vehicle. 1979 Dodge Ramcharger 360/auto full-time 4x4. I think it has 33's in a 16.5 rim (how those ever got popular as an off road rim size is completely beyond me, as the bead would literally break by standing on the deflated tire).

Don't know the actual mileage, but the gas gauge moved faster than the speed-o. BUT...i was 17 and only had to worry about gas a smokes. Only 1/4 turn of slop in the steering. And it was badass. Wish life was still that simple...

always get 12 with avalanche towing, should be the same if you got a newer burb 1500, guess it probably depends how you drive, if you try to keep up with the cars on the hills on the hwy you aren't going to get that. I take it easy and save my trans and gas, there are a bunch of hills and I get that going the speed limit (just take a little while getting there) with either enclosed/camper/or open with pioneer, and nothing big has been out of the truck at about 200k now
