So this happened today. Pulled behind the house to do some skeet shooting with my son today. Came to a stop and went to put selector in Park from Low and it broke loose. WTH! After further inspection, barely any weld on it. I’m glad this happened at the house and not on the trail. Anyone else had this happen? Went ahead and shot and noticed later when I got back to house I could shift it by working it with my hands from under the hood. Does anyone know if warranty will cover this? I bought the machine last Thanksgiving so still in 1 year warranty. If not, I won’t waste my time at dealership and pull it off and weld it myself. TIA.

Called my Honda Dealer this morning like planned, and they said YES to bring it in and they would take care of it under warranty. Service manager said he’s never seen one break. He took one look at my handle and said it wasn’t welded correctly from factory.

An update. Honda warrantied Broken Gear Selector and my Honda dealership got it fixed quickly! It was at dealership 8 working days and 6 was waiting on new gear shift Rod. Service Manager said Honda asked for gear shift lever to be sent out off for them to investigate further. The new lever had a good solid bead around pivot barrel and the one that came off did not as seen in pictures.

Same thing happened to me about a week ago, I was in high shifting to park and suddenly I had the handle in my hand, could not believe it. My machine was less then 2 weeks old. Called dealer so they could order the part prior to my arrival, this morning they repaired in about an hour and a half, same weld. I wonder if this weld is done by a human or machine?

Wow! I was wondering if anyone else had this issue. I’m not sure about the welds but my replacement had a better weld on it. My first was just tacked on.
