What’s your set-up?

As I said, I’ve got the OEM battery in its original location and a 35 AHDC battery in the factory provided location for a dual battery. True isolator between them with a 6 position BSR fuse box feeding the accessories. That is on my 2016 model. I’m building a more elaborate system on my 2018 model.

Ahh sorry, thought you had one under the seat!

50”, each bulb is 5w, there’s 100 bulbs. That’s 500w. And I have not, just know it’s the upgraded 5w vs the normal 3w. It’s on plashlights website if you want to take a look. It’s got 14 gauge lead wires cause 16 will fry

Cool... there was someone on here roughly a year ago with a China bar that was advertised and marked 500watts but was actually 300.

Nope, those who do that usually are just going to a high CCA automotive rapid cycle battery rather than the dual system.

Don’t know if you’re being serious or sarcastic

I’m being serious. 500 watts is a hell of a drain and must produce an obscene amount of light!!

Considering it’s a reputable company near my house, plus a general knowledge of electrical work, I’d guarantee it’s over 300 watt. It literally was frying 16 guage wire when I tested it. Plus the fact it was almost $1k, it’s not cheap junk, as I’ve had plenty of those

So I had a 52” curved with the second battery under the hood... I’m in the process of transitioning to better lights with better placement. The draw for the 52” was just too much. Your only option is to go under the seat with the second batter.. several have done it and there are several threads on it. @Windrock1000 @joeymt33

I’ll get some pics next time I go, we have one spot on our rock road that’s every bit of 600 yards and it lights it up well. Unbelievable, but I needed it because the cheap bars only cast a short throw of bright light, this one projects it

I hear ya, thought you already said in the op that it draws 500 watts????

At any rate, for you, production is the weak link.

Sounds like it then... that’s a crazy amount of draw for the stock stator in the pioneer.

Trying to prove a point, i haven’t put a reader on it, but it’s brighter than the normal 300w

14 gauge wire seems small for 500 watts. That is 41 amps, I would expect at least 12 gauge if not 10 gauge.

I want to run it to truly see now that y’all point this out. 10e8e2c37d34ba17955a0a9ee13397d7

Here’s the bar if you want to check it out on their website.

Doesn’t come with a fuse. I asked why I paid that much for the bar without a harness and they said it will ruin a harness. Most guys run them in the saltwater boats and fry the harness within 2 weeks. Mines wired to a stinger relay, couldn’t find a 40a fuse to go in my block.

The overriding concern is power loss. Wire must not be sized merely for the ampacity, because there is less tolerance for voltage drop (except for very short runs). For example, a 1V drop from 12V causes 10 times the power loss of 1V drop from 120V.
