I did some sound improvement on the truck this week. I pulled the door panels off and sprayed DEI Boom Mat inside of the door shell (where you see the black), then lined the outside of the shell with KillMat, and finished it off with some Kicker CS speakers. I did it to all 4 doors and wow there is a difference in the cab. The road noise is reduced greatly and the speakers sound great.

A couple weeks ago I installed the Fass Titanium Signature Series 100GPH lift pump with the Rudy's Diesel Performance Sump. I made the mistake and placed the sump directly under the sending unit. Without thinking I just installed it on the flattest spot and ended up into the bottom of the sending unit so for now the unit is slightly pushed up and it causes my fuel gauge to be slightly off. Oh well.

Put some new wheels and tires on the truck on Friday to get it ready for the weekend!

I bought a 2000 Ford Super duty last year and love it. Has the 7.3L Powerstroke, 8 foot box, extended cab, 6 speed manual, perfect body and interior and 190K miles all for $11000.00. I would put it up against any other diesel especially with the 6 speed. It is a real hotrod. I also have a 1977 F250 gas that only gets about 8mpg no matter what. I have a cabover camper on the diesel and usually pull a car hauler trailer with 3 ATV's on it. Diesel is the only way to go. When I pull this setup with my gas it's like dragging a house.

I almost forgot last week I replaced the Rudy's sump with a bean machine. The Rudy's leaked a couple days after install so I reinstalled it with seal all. It did not leak after that but the bottom of the tank was always "wet" with fuel. It never dripped but you could run your finger across it and smell diesel. So far with the bean machine there is no leak/wetness. It has been on since Monday. Another lesson learned to just buy quality.

If you WANT to spend time working on them, buy a Ford or noisy Dodge. If you want to do oil changes and drive it quietly, buy a Chevrolet Duramax. This is my 3rd, a 2017 4x4 crewcab duramax. Have 61,000 miles so far. Radiator fluid level sensor pooped. That's it. Pull toyhauler all the time, 14 mpg in hills. Last truck, a 2004, with 242,000 miles, sold to neighbor for landscaping business. Still earning its keep 5 days a week. Best model is "PD" as in paid in full, and still under warranty.

Finally bit the bullet and got the Smarty SG2 touchscreen for my 06 3500 5.9L Cummins, holy sh**, amazing what a tuner can do for a common rail.
I purchased an edge when I first got the truck. Then I purchased a smarty s06. Hands down smarty knows what to do with the cummins. The edge was just not cutting it for me. I will say the edge is now my monitor and I do like it that way. I looked at the smarty touch and I like the visual of the edge better but I think the smarty touch would have been 👌

I'll agree with the Ford :p I have worked on GM and dodge but never personally worked on Ford diesel. The cummins is typically the easiest to work on which usually means less down time and cheaper. The biggest things for me is DEF issues on any brand, injectors on duramax suck to replace, and I have personally seen cp4s grenade and take the engines out with them on the newer duramax. The L5P is my least favorite duramax. Every brand makes good and bad. From experience where I work we have new duramax trucks needing injectors by their first oil change. Quality control is going crazy everywhere.

Yeah, I did quite a bit of research, kinda splurged on the s2g but it's a all in one deal with more parameter settings than I'll ever figure out. The edge is a nice monitor. My son has one on his duramax.

I think you made a good call. I really enjoy my smarty. I would recommend them to any cummins owner who wants a great box tune. I messed with mine a bunch when I first got it and I settled on 5 with all parameters set to 2. Last week I drove on 6 just for fun. It's nice to have an entire civic hp and tq to add from the palm of your hand :p

I just put the 60 hp with timing on mine, bumped up the rail pressure and trans. I was really unimpressed until I got into pretty hard at a 4 way stop. wow ! I was still grinning when I got home. I'm gonna put another 100 hp or more on it and play here real soon.

Decided to keep my old 98 Cummins, 24 valve and not buy a new one. Going to rebuild the front end and then it goes to a friend's diesel performance place Tuesday for a Smarty, Air intake, 4" Exhaust, Turbo Elbow and we'll see what else he cooks up..
Figured I'd still be ahead spending $2-3 grand on it over buying new. Motor just turned 103,000 miles.
It's a gem of a pickup.

I added the APS Grill today. I am not a fan of the diamond but I really like the LEDs.

Yes,
We did buy it new.

Wife drove it for awhile.
I have work trucks so it was mostly used to haul/pull stuff on the weekends and trailer trips.

It seemed expensive at the time $ 30k
I still grin everytime I drive it.

My first working diesel is this 2021 F350 XL 4x4 6.7 Powermax with 4.10 gear ratio, with Crew Cab, Dually And a flat bed with gooseneck hitch in the bed. Before that was my 1986 Chevrolet 5/4 Ton M1008 CUCV I restored. It had a 6.2 Detroit diesel and was Geared to 4.55, it’s top speed was 50 mph and was a money pit. Sold it to a friend who still has it. Beast of a truck really!

I believe all of those Chevy’s were built in the Flint Truck plant. Was it still 24v it converted to 12v?
