First of all, thanks for letting me into the group. This is my first post. Okay now to the issue at hand, took my p500 to go deer hunting, got unloaded and drove around for a bit a couple of times no problem. Then went on about a 5mi drive to get water, got back just fine. About an hour later go to start it, dash lights up, pump kicks on as normal, turn key to start position just makes a click, dash blanks out. Starter doesn't do anything. I've checked the battery ( and changed), fuses are good. Anybody have any ideas????

It's in neutral, had to hand load into truck to bring home, rolled out of trunk into the garage. Parking brake applied. I have also cleaned terminals and ground at the frame. Also tried jumping it to no avail. Before I started this post I searched the forums for my issue (no start), tried just about everything but pulling the starter out.

Take a 12v test light and back track from the starter,If no light there,go to the starter relay and check for voltage from the ignition switch. If nothing there probe the key switch.

If you have power at the cable on the starter when you turn the ignition switch, pull the starter out and see if it will turn by hand. If it won't turn you will find the magnets in the case of the starter have let go and bound the armature. This would then be time for a new starter.

Curious about how old is your P500?

Be sure to check how much power you are getting to the starter?

Thought someone had similar issue that was a faulty ignition switch. May want to check no start issues in past?

No hadn't had past problems, it had started to take a bit took fire after not running for a couple of days. But fire right up after ran for a few minutes. This happened out of the blue.

Darn it, just had to buy another battery for the Rancher 420. (GYZ16H same as P500). Old one charged up but would only click the starter.

Well I think I found the problem. Starter is toasted. I think time to hit up Amazon or eBay, as much as I hate buying things online.

If only Honda (or its supplier) would of bought a little better epoxy a lot of people would not have to go thru this problem!

I'm glad you found the problem, and to be honest, I haven't seen many starter problems over the years. So, I'm curious have you checked to see if power is/was going to the starter while off? Reason for asking, I would check the machine over carefully to ensure you do not have some sort of electrical issue going on and end up burning up a new one...
