Adjusted shocks for the first time tonight, preloads and dampeners. Not exactly sure what doing on this machine but playing around a bit. She was definitely too soft from factory Looks like about 1.5” raise, with tires should be 2.5 over stock. I’m very interested to see what it did and start playing around some. If it’s not right I’ll get on the Yamaha forum but just don’t enjoy it over there.
Easy way to add preload, no stupid spanner wrench needed, just turn the nut by hand. Literally took 5 min all shocks.

changed out all front ball joints, only one was bad. Super easy on this machine they just tapped in/out light hits from hammer so that was a blessing.

I've tried using a spring compressor similar to the one you're using 2 different times with no luck. Always ended up doing the ratchet strap thing. Once on a honda froeman and once on the pioneer.

Ratchet straps work good I’ve done that as well. What was the problem you saw? Too tight a spring pack?

Good guy and a wealth of knowledge!
Very good guy. Pretty blunt on things, he tells it how it is and I really appreciate that in someone. He treats you are an individual and figures you out before selling stuff. Rare nowadays.
He mentioned they were trying to get out of doing Yamaha stuff because there isn’t much call for it but he doesn’t want to leave those guys stranded. Like everyone else I suppose he makes his money on Polaris. Said those guys are just open wallets.

Boy I can’t help but to be a little jealous of work putting into Yami. I see my Pioneer right there and realize the love it needs. It’s been so good too, still fully usable but there’s a growing list. it’s looked the same since way before we got that one, not much changed from the last machine, nearly everything transferred over, it even had the used tires from last one at day 1. It needs its own identity and it’s killing me now a bit.
My daughter’s is more important at this minute but it’s time is coming much sooner then originally planned. I’m just scared of availability on things, already checked on some of the plastics and not looking good.

Dealer called today and said negative on tie rod ends in time. Had to run 80 miles at lunch to get replacement. Guy said it’s used but doesn’t look so to me. Whatever it takes mode right now.

Figured I’d post this here as it’s off brand but my family has a new Sxs. After the luck we had with Yami and the availability of aftermarket parts my oldest son pulled trigger on a Rhino. Needs some work but for 1500 can’t complain especially in this economy. He plans on building it up pretty good. Came with 4-seat addition and a brand new big bore kit. Not bad. Had he not bought it I would’ve.

Alright got some parts. New fan going in. Been a problem for 3 years, maybe the mud water does effect things lol. Well better late then never. Pretty good for the money with lifetime warranty. Not that it matters because now a 15$ Easy replacement if needed.

Got servo motor for 4wd yesterday, installed it into the box, greased it all up and works, now have 4wd again. Fan in. Getting some checks off the list.
winch hasn’t had good rope in a bit (hasn’t been issues as Wolverine is light and Pioneer is there if problem) went to spool rope and didn’t work. Found a big crack in the case so tore it apart. It’s was rusted to hell deep in, so much so it didn’t want to come apart.
complete tear down, clean and regrease. Did quick repair on the case and ready to go back in. I figured it’d be scary to go through but not bad at all, I’ll do that with the two on the Pioneer soon as well.

Looking at the title of the tread I started singing the Love Boat theme song and substituting boat for goat. No Homo Goat Ropo….

Struggled this time to get the damn knot out of the backside of the winch so after trying punches, drill bits and a few other things I got pissed and poured some lacquer thinner on the rope and set it on fire. After a couple applications she came right out. Not sure that’s the approved method but it worked.

Front end is all done underneath. New everything. Right side was destroyed but driver side was good like usual on a machine. But driver side everything replaced as well. Yami uses everything the same left/right upper/lower so lots of extra stuff.
winch going grill and bumper on and looking better. Scuffed and did quick rattle can on things to freshen up a bit. Impatiently waiting on plastics. Also clutch stuff. Bent things back around so new stuff will fit.
Hot and miserable working today, kinda at standstill till more parts arrives so it’s quits for the weekend.
