Hi guys,

I'm wondering if a brand new motor in the crate can be bought from Honda..... or can you just rebuild it?

thanks
Martin

Found this with a quick google search. I imagine if youre handy with some wrenches you can rebuild one for way less than this though, no matter whats wrong with it. There is tons of engine parts on ebay also. Engine case's and cranks, top end rebuild kits, etc...

Almost anything can be rebuilt but it's frequently cheaper to find a used motor from a totaled 500. (dependent of course on why you're rebuilding)

Was the engine just high miles or did something unusual happen?

Like Fischer said, what happened? If smoking from miles/hours, simple fix, but water then you have additional work ahead of you

Is the P500 engine the same engine used in either the Foreman or Rubicon?

Yup, for the most part as long as it's an electric shift model

The gears I put in to increase speed/lower trail rpm are from a Rancher 420. The 520 cyl/piston I used to rebuild mine was ordered for a 2020 Foreman 520 only because the 2021 P520 parts schematics weren't available yet.

Replacement Engines for power equipment are available as long as the emission laws have not changed.

I would be interested in knowing this as well.

BTW, I am sure a rebuild would be less expensive unless there was catastrophic damage.

What gears did you change out? Is it possible to change just the 5th gear set to taller gearing so one can maintain the low end but get more top end out of them? Or is it an all-or-nothing sort of thing?

The final drive gears for the trans. Here's the link to the thread about it.
