More goodies arrived today. Roll of HDPE for mud skirts/flares and a sheet of 1/2" HDPE for center skid section. It was less than half the price of UHMW so we will see how long it lasts. Outside skids are UHMW.

HDPE gouges much easier then UHMW, I am curious how long it'll last.

Me too. Would have to go back and look at the price, but it was less than half. If it works, I could build the whole skids for under $250. If I get a couple years out of it or even a full season, I will be happy.

I am sure it will take a while to gouge through a half inch....hopefully.

Got the roll for the flare unrolled and flattening out. Going to get the flares done this weekend.

Already got the skid drilled, countersink and installed!

With all the rocks mind skids across, HDPE would be worn through by now. Being mostly mud for you with stumps not rocks you should be fine.

My front bumper 3/8 UHMW skid is replaceable for good reason but I didn't expect this kind of penetration. I feel like the pioneer earned this one. Behind the skid is 1/8" steel plate backed by 1.25" 1/8 wall tube so the skid is really just for slipping up obstacles. The gash is staying for now

I did do the front center and up the front bumper with 1/2 UHMW. Just the center wide part is HDPE. Hopefully it will see more sliding than impacting. The outside sections are UHMW as well. I also did a 1/8" steel skid plate under the rear end section to protect the diff.

I like the triangles you cut out of the side panels, might catch less mud than mine. I would have made the sides longer and wrapped them up the firewall.

I thought about wrapping them up the firewall, but did not want to take the time to learn how to bend the thicker stuff. The first side piece of UHMW I installed is 5/8". Did not realize they had sent 5/8 till I had already cut it.

If I ever can get it in my fab shop, I got other plans for the fire wall and door kick panel.

Got one of the front flares done. May need to narrow it up some.

Are you planning to go with some crazy offset wheels? I've never really understood the fender flare idea but especially not with stock tires

Not crazy but will be doing spacers and offsets with bigger tires. The mud these things throw are just too much...

I will end up trimming these narrower I sure.

Added a rear 1/8" skidplate under the rear diff. UHMW will go on the very bottom.

Some left over tube bracing?

Last trip into windrock I snagged the rear cage and dented it. Not anymore!
