Hey guys,

What's the easiest way to remove the stock speed limiter (74mph) on a stock machine? I understand that your typical bolt on mods do not really increase power on these machines as honds got 99% of what's reasonably possible out of the engines, so I don't think it's worth the money to buy a fuel controller/tuner that can also remove the limiter, is there an easier/cheaper way?

Ahhh too bad.
Even if you bypass the 74 mph speed limiter I think you will also have to bypass the Rev limiter. I don't know if you can tell from my picture but I'm near or at redline on the tach so I don't know if significant changes are possible without larger tires or gearing changes. At 90 it would revving to the moon.

PV3 and u can change the speed and rpm limiter. Machine doesn't really have the power or gearing to do much more. Hess has a head and cam kit, think its marketed around 90 mph and does make a good bit more power. Not sure where u can use that unless on the street. I've saw quiet a few KRX's out running turbo X3's and PoPo's through the desert where suspension was the real limitation off road and the KRX only runs about 68.

Can anyone smarter than I calculate what speed the machine would be in 6th at 9000rpm?

Can't help with that, but I can tell you that a 28" tire is around 88" in circumference to help out whoever can actually figure it out.

Anyone know what 6th gear ratio is?

6th gear ratio is .800 and high gear is 1.880

Son n' law has a turbo can am with a tuner thingy. I have driven it over 90 and faster but I had to keep my eyes in front instead of watching the speed meter. Crazy ass ride on a gravel road and not the most wise thing to be doing anyway. There is no where we ride that he can use the potential that cam am has speed wize. Even when we are at the sand dunes riding,, the suspension can not handle that speed on the sand due to the wheel ruts from others and the hills and valleys in the sand. It is fun to feel the acceleration and your back pressed in the seat but that does not last long due to the terrain. My Talon does just fine for what it is in the power department.

Thanks. I've tried and failed to calculate it, Have to take into consideration the tire size of course, but also the 6th gear ratio, high gear ratio, AND diff ratio. Becomes a bit too complex for my limited mathing abilities.

Removing the speed limiter and raising the rev limiter with the PV3 is super easy. Both the DynoJet and HMF tunes have it already done to them.

I calculated RPM vs Speed a while back to calculate IGR stuff. The following is in 6th gear...

28" tires go 783 feet per 1000 rpm. So, 9000 rpm = 7047 fpm X 60 minutes = 422,820 fph / 5280 = ~80 mph @ 9000 RPM
30" tires will go ~85.7 MPH
32" tires will go ~91.5 MPH assuming you have the power to turn 32's to redline in 6th gear.

Thanks Paul!!!

So 80mph at 9k rpm. That's a bit better!
