Great job on the build, Terry. That Talon is way too nice to take out in the mud! I may have missed it, but I was wondering what you are using for mounting your US flags? Thanks!

Thanks Tom! I'm using the 5150 day whips. Highly recommend them. Super tough and have a very cool magnetic mount.

Thank you, Terry! I should have known that you would have a nice video on the flags and whips! They are ordered! The whips seem very reasonably priced for the quality that you describe- $80 for the pair.

I have a 39 Chevy pickup street rod that I have wanted to put flags on. I think these will be just the ticket for that as well.

This site is costing me a lot of money! Thanks everyone!

I just watched your video on the PaulF gauge relocation procedure. Thanks so much for that. 👍 👍 👍 I had myself psyched out and my head was spinning, just looking through the box after I received it. It'll be awhile before I get to it now, since it's cold and icky here for the next 2 months and there's nowhere to ride with the mountains snowed in. I'll be grounded until I can head off for the desert in a few weeks and the garage is unheated so I'm not very motivated, I hate trying to work and can't enjoy myself when I'm shivering like a wet puppy. 🥶 🥶 🥶

Anyway, thanks again, I can do plugs and soldering. 👍

Sharing some pics of the new toy hauler. We are so excited to have it. Did a Talon test fit and test pull last weekend. Can't say enough about the Weigh Safe True Tow hitch. So impressed with it and their app for setting everything up. Trailer pulled perfectly and I loaded it in the worst case scenario as far as tongue weight just to see. Nothing but the Talon and a full tank of fuel in the fuel station. Pulled it 75 mph without any issue at all. Gotta add some E track to the garage. The factory tie downs are fine but aren't positioned well. I much prefer the over the tire tie downs any way.

Also got the new parking pad finished behind my shop. Finally all the trailers are off the grass! View attachment 243235View attachment 243236View attachment 243237View attachment 243238View attachment 243239View attachment 243241

Glad the video is helpful. It's really a pretty straightforward swap.

Few changes to the Talon over the winter. Starting with new wheels. I knocked a big chunk out of one of the Racelines last Fall so that served as a handy excuse to go to beadlocks. Got a set of STI HD9's form Planetsxs.com and promptly took them to my favorite powdercoater. Totally thrilled with how they turned out.

Those wheels look amazing, just like everything else on your machine! I just ordered the same wheels yesterday, in Black/Machined. I will forgo the custom powdercoating, but I do really like the red rings. I still can't believe you take that out in the mud! 😃

Thanks! The mud washes. I do dread the first rock that gouges one of these wheels though. Can guarantee you it'll be the first time we go.

I wanted red beadlock rings on my HD9's but they were only available on the 14" wheels as far as I could figure from their site. Judging by the clearance of the back of the front wheel to the upper A-arm, it looks like you're running 15"? so you had the rings powdercoated too? Or does HD9 have red rings available for the 15" wheel? (two emails got me no answers) As usual, your eye for colors is outstanding.

I did a crude coloring in MS Paint to see if I'd like them - (center wheel with polished spokes)

Hey CID. I like the red with the polished centers! These are 14's. I had the wheels and rings powdercoated to match the theme. They began life all satin black.

Finally got around to getting the E Track installed in our new Momentum 31G toy hauler. I've procrastinated for months on whether I should bolt it thru the floor or do lags. Finally went with 1 1/4" x 1/4" lags. I cut the E Track to fit our Honda Talon's footprints and installed it with the Erickson over the tire straps and E chocks in mind. There are 92 lags in pre-drilled holes holding the 4 pieces so I feel confident that it's not going anywhere. I used plastic caps to finish off the ends and plastic caps for the heads of the lags. Made for a pretty finished look and will hopefully minimize any trip hazard. I'm quite pleased with how it came out.

Here are the links to what was used:

Been a little under the weather so haven't been riding. Was bored to death today so decided that I'd install the XL MudBusters on the front of the Talon to replace the regular R ones. Still not crazy about how they look but the wife was tired of the flying mud off the front tires landing on her head. :). Also took the FL350R out and irritated the neighbors for a while. My gosh that thing is so fun.

What length of E-track did you cut to on each location? Thinking of just ordering four 3 footers for my hauler.

I'll have to measure to be for sure since my memory is nonexistent any more but I believe it was 42" for the front and 46" for the rear. If you are going to use the E track chocks you'll have to allow for some extra.
