must be nice, pay more than that for just the limited stuff I have.
we had kohler generators the one for that building was a 8.1l deere with a turbo, really cool, I had three I took care of. one had a cummins 6 like a dodge and the other started as it was old 12 cylinder Detroit with two superchargers, those both got swaped new kohlers too a lot of fuel savings on the newer stuff like you say.very impressive to work on for a gear nut. the old ones rattled your brain and chest when it was on and you were standing near it

Oh and I put a gen panel next to my regular panel. I switch a switch on my panel and one on the gen panel and it powers my furnace, fridge, lights, water heater, computer and tv. Yeah the heat pump I figured was too much. So I just plug in the generator to the plug on the outside of my house and I’m good. As long as I have gas for the generator, haha.

I had a ‘74 . Haha I couldn’t kill that thing. Just rust did. I put that thing through hell and back. Haha

74 FJ 40 also. Got a Subaru BRAT first, but while it was at the dealer for torn CV boots, walked to the next door Toyota dealer and discovered the FJ40. During a big blizzard in 1980 as a medic when the National Guard was called in, PD gave me a radio with call sign Mobile Medic, winching/ towing out Emergency Vehicles and transporting patients. The new FJs don’t do justice to the old.

My neighbor in Cape Breton has a big Hattachi, I know that’s not spelled right, haha, excavator and had to switch motors and his motor was the exact motor in the gen sets on the containers. So free knowledge. Haha

It's really not that bad you guys. At my house it was only -36.

We choose to live in MN, we have gorgeous summers and awesome autumns, but this certainly brings out the best... or worst.. of us. Getting stir crazy! The funny thing is by Sunday we'll be above freezing! WTF????

Haha we have a lot in common. Haha. I had a ‘77 Brat and could have bought a new FJ 40 for $1000 more, I kicked my ass right after I bought it. After that I had a ‘64 Chevelle , from N C , . Then I bought the FJ 40. I pulled a full bus load of people up the hill by my parents house. The driver said if he didn’t see it he wouldn’t believe it. In low, second gear, pop the clutch and dig through the ice and bounce up the street. It was hard to stop. I bought the new one because I said if it was half the FJ40 it would be a good truck. And the 8 years I owned it , it was a beast. But I don’t know what it would be like in the future. Toyota should still be making them. The ones that are redone are big money. The only thing that killed it was the rust especially around the tail lights. But I would buy another one, if I could afford if. Haha

Same here but not the -36. Haha. Land of lakes. You gotta have good gear living in the cold. I definitely do. Haha. Stay warm. Warmer weather is around the corner.

Oh, Duckhunter, I had over 50 ducks on my lawn yesterday. After the bird food. I bought duck pellets, $14 for 60 lbs. They know me now and come right by my feet. My two buddies duck hunt and my old neighbor. And they just shake their heads. Don’t even need a gun. Haha. Boy they know when bad weather is coming. There has been so many I can’t count them all. They keep moving too fast. Haha

That's really awesome! I appreciate things like that - not just hunting them. Used to be chairman of the local DU committee, until I developed simple differences and stepped away from the planning committee but still attend.

If it happens again snap a picture!

That’s a couple weeks ago. But they don’t mind me. Haha. Because I feed them. And they are big. I have a big hawk that sits in a big tree near by. Somehow the ducks know and are gone in a second. I also have a falcon hunting the birds. He’s got many starlings. Very fast and very cool.
