Looks beautiful Monte.
How did the camper work out.
That's a great deer!! I've only ever gotten an 11 Pt ( Eastern count) with a bow at about 5 yards...2 blade broadhead thru the heart and out the bottom...gushed blood for a couple minutes...like tracking a bucket of red paint. My right shoulder is screwed too.
I use a 243 in Alberta. My last deer was 12 pt and around 250. Only had a head shot, got him in the left eye next to the middle. He dropped like a stone.
It’s definitely easier on the shoulder than my 30-06.
Have a great day lr

We traversed state land, BLM land, private land and national forest land….👍Looks beautiful Monte.
Not hard telling which is your bike.
Is that all state land ?
Really beautiful.
Thanks brother.

No grizzlies, and if there are wolves, none manifest. The trailer is far better than the tent. A couple nights people were cold, but we were not. She did great, but then she has a whole lot of experience with it….How did the camper work out.
Definitely better than sleeping on the ground at our age. Haha
How did C do. Did she have a good time too.
Looks like wolf and grizzly country.

Even after it gave up the ghost we still stayed in it but then left it chained to a tree next to the camp hosts spot and returned for it after the completion of the Rimrocker Trail…, thanksHow did the camper work out.
Your right on the 243, you have to be a good shot. I never get buck fever. We have a few big boys behind the camp that come to the Apple tree in the woods. Used to be an old farm. The owner of the land didn’t even know it was there. That's a great deer!! .243 is pretty much a do all caliber with right bullet in the right spot. Some might argue but it works.
Good luck with Larry!!

I know people in Cape Breton with families that would get a deer, or two, every year with a 22. They needed the food. And I don’t have a problem at all.Nice!!
If you are a good shot and close enough at 22 LR works good for head shots or base of the skull. I know it's not legal.
I had a neighbor that ran down a doe with a combine.I know people in Cape Breton with families that would get a deer, or two, every year with a 22. They needed the food. And I don’t have a problem at all.

I'm sure that happens a lot, especially if it's a late fawn.I had a neighbor that ran down a doe with a combine.
Not sure but I think it was momma and he was tired of her eating his beans.I'm sure that happens a lot, especially if it's a late fawn.
Perfect place to take the old girl. I mean the car. I made some chicken thigh meat for something then discovered I didn't have any taco shell so ate it with chips...good lunch anyway.Up in Taos on a mini road trip. Just had shredded beef enchiladas smothered in Hatch green chili sauce….😋 A bit warm but beautiful still….View attachment 294595View attachment 294596
