I've been on AZ trip and got distracted. 17F this morning and a beautiful ride to Home Depot in the dark this morning...wonderful sun rise on the way home. I really like to get there before the local wives arrive and totally ruin the selecting lumber mood...some woman asked me a few weeks ago if she painted pine with red paint will it look like redwood. I told her...yes it will be red wood then.

Sun warmed things to 41F this afternoon and a beautiful moon walking up from the shop. BTW, Caper, I grew up with an old man who worked for my Dad who was full blooded Seminole Indian. He would kill for a coon dinner...but didn't like possum.

Started a fire in the small stove, headed into the 20's Sun up for a couple of days, then we go into a warming trend for a few days?

We're at 29F at teh momment and expect some light snow tomorrow eve but warming after that. Normal should be 42 to 28.

Anyone have a Ricon 14" band saw? I'm on the verge of having one but thought I'd check and see if anyone has any problems with theirs. A friend has as 10" and loves it....anone?

Started a fire in the small stove, headed into the 20's Sun up for a couple of days, then we go into a warming trend for a few days?

I found a piece of split wood I burned yesterday that was Birdseye. I thought of you. Haha

How’d you transition where the new metal meets the house?

There are all kinds of transition pieces. I just used a flat piece at the top and clear calked along the top. But there are lots of angled pieces for transition. I’d take a picture but it’s covered in snow this morning. Just a dusting. But it’s started. Going to rain today and tomorrow. Nice weekend then rain all next week.

Been wanting a bandsaw and a thickness planer for years. It’s the kinda thing I would use one or twice a year. Some day. Haha

I don’t have a band saw. It would be nice, but like Cap said I’d only use it very occasionally so can’t quite justify the expense or it taking up space for that…

Thickness planer would be nice for the local, as I call them, thick and thin lumber companies products. 😂

I was trying to zoom in and see the transition but just couldn’t see it. So was that basically a “lean to” shed off the house for storage, firewood and what not?

It was just a 5 foot fence that I redid to 6’. And put two posts in 12” sonatubes, Dug for the pad and made the rafters and blocked every 2’. It’s a 3.5 / 12 slope. Just need above 2.5, the snow doesn’t stick to the metal. It slides off. I think I’ll be good but just in case I have a roof rake that I’ve never used.

Nope. Any houses with a metal roof have no snow on them. Most have slide stops on around the doors.
