I’ve seen big body deer around the camp. I saw a 14 pointer with long tines, I walked right up on him. I put doe piss on his scrape two days before. It was snowing hard. He was laying right across from the scrape. About 5 feet. He jumped up and stood in the trail. He was definitely rutting. He didn’t have much of an ass. But his head was above the branches I cut off at 6’. I knelt now as he was turning his head. Big boy. I actually whispers, anyone but me, you’d be dead right now for your head. Then he took three steps towards me. About 10 feet away. I said one more step and I’m shooting you. He took a step and I flicked the safety off and he knew that sound. Gone.Healthy boys...good breeding stock. Over a 15 year period we shot only "cull" males and let the nice bucks carry the herd. We saw a big drop in "bad horn blood" and better bucks seemed to be able to dominate the does. It seems to be worth doing. This was in soy bean country and we did a lot of herd reduction efforts too and the "good bucks" stayed out of the fields so they survived to enhance the herd. I believe the good genes made them smarter too. BTW, "bad horn bucks" taste good too
You too, lrlight dusting of snow this morning but it will be gone this afternoon since we're headed to the upper 40's and 50's tomorrow.
An honorable Veterans Day to everyone!!
Mine actually looks good. And I have a little bit of room.Well, exactly except for a little while anyway I do pretty good about putting each tool and supplies back where they belong. But yeah, eventually….🙄
My brother said it snowed a little this morning at the camp too. It’s about 38 degrees down there today and rain. I told him they would be coming to the apples this afternoon. Go early and sit in the tree stand, light dusting of snow this morning but it will be gone this afternoon since we're headed to the upper 40's and 50's tomorrow.

Is there any flashing from the roof to the chimney. We aren’t allowed by code to cover our chimney.I think you mentioned you use to be a roofer so you’ll recognize the area where the roof meets the chimney chase as a typically problematic area, especially if the roofer isn’t using care and diligence. I’ll have to redo that when I replace the rotted wood….
