I see the N D is getting more cold. If they are going to get it, that usually means the rest of you guys in the middle of the country are going to get cold too.

Well......aren’t you full of encouragement this morning. I’m in south central New Mexico in the high desert with the oddity of an isolated outcropping of pine covered mountains that reach near 12,000’ with Sierra Blanca Peak ski resort. The approach was all flat desert for two hours and then there this is. I stayed in a cabin on the river and I’ll be in it again tonight. But today I’m going to explore some Billy the Kid lore and of course drive the switch backed road to the top to check out the Mountain View and the snow bunny view...I see the N D is getting more cold. I’ll take the 70. Sounds like a nice day. Especially the bunnies. I skied once in Mount St Ann’s. Outside Quebec City. And the Austrian women’s ski team was there practicing for a race. A wack of beautiful women. Didn’t get much skiing in. Haha.Well......aren’t you full of encouragement this morning. The low here was 36* and the high today will be 70*....
I just put wood in the garage. Enough till Tuesday. Maybe. And I’ll take 50’s even. Hahaso far not so bad but supposed to get ice today while its getting colder, always sucks the worst. going to go fill the inside wood racks this morning and tarp the outside wood pile normally about 3weeks worth, really hope that will be it or one more time when its over 50s i dont run it
Wink wink....My wife enjoys it too. Just walked out of the cabin and don’t need a coat. It’s 47* already. Sun, blue sky and not even a breeze.Especially the bunnies.

I have lots of wood in Cape Breton. Haha. But can’t get to it.Moved my car to the shop and got the truck in the garage. We are almost out of split and seasoned fire wood. Can make it a week but not much more. Ive got 2 racks full of wood just not ready. Still saying 6-8 inches of snow through the night.

I cut my own. Had 2 flats on the pioneer last night after pulling some wood for the winter of 2020 out of the waterway feeding the pond. Most wood we have burned since moving out here. My next stuff up has been drying about a year in the round. Ill split it this spring then let it dry 7 more months before burning. I can burn hedge green but dont want to. May have to go cut down some ash trees.running out sucks, have a couple times last year it was real cold, dont know if its the same everywhere, bad years the decent stuff gets bought and the stuff everyone else has as "seasoned is really just stacked in big piles or plastic bins for a couple months, might as well be green. if you buy better to just get the cheaper new stuff and dry it yourself only way you can be sure.
An old neighbor of mine made axe, sledgehammer, hammer handles from ash logs. He looked for a piece about the length he needed, set it by the furnace. When it was ready, take a double bitter axe and split it down to ruff, then a ruff wood file. When he was done, it was like a factory done piece. He was in his 90’s then. I still have one of each in my garage. His grandson didn’t even know him. But he got the house and now rents it. Nice. But ash WAS more than Oak by the board foot. It makes beautiful cabinets.I cut my own. Had 2 flats on the pioneer last night after pulling some wood for the winter of 2020 out of the waterway feeding the pond.
