Ive got about 2 acres of ash most not much bigger around that a man's wrist. I havent been cutting it because I have hedge, locust, pecan, and mulberry.
Nice. But that’s what he would be looking for, maybe a little bigger. In Cape Breton I have mostly maple and birch. A few ash, but I leave them. Incase the price goes up. Haha. There is a Ponderosa Pine down from my camp, near the stream, that is close to three feet across. No limbs for over a hundred feet. It’s too close to the stream for anybody to take. For saw log. What a beautiful piece of wood.

had to look up what hedge was, osage orange, looks like a pretty sought after hard wood. i use the term hedge row all the time but never really thought about it. looks similar to a cherry tree, i have a bunch of those and ash but those dont just fall. only cut those if i want a trail there or the vines are killing it. really just burn maple mostly that grown big and the wind storms will take down branches 18-24 inches at the base. its softer wood but dries quick, one year seems good, ash and cherry sometimes 2 before it burns good. but last alot longer in the stove.
pine is alot of work for not much time, but what you got free is always the best wood
really like maple looks would make cool table or something with the star in the middle

what im burning now

It's ok, I'm here with the guys, catch you the next time.
Have a good drive home. The show was more for street bikes. A few sxs’s . I think the Sports and RV show next weekend will be better. Too bad we couldn’t touch base. I was early.

no tree expert but this one i think it a type of maple had these cool stars in the middleView attachment 111773
A buddy of mine, was working in his woods and called me to ask if I knew what all these little narles were on a big maple tree. Haha. I said don’t cut it. Call Hefler lumber and have him come out and see what he’ll pay for Birdseye. He came right out and offered him $5,000 and he’d come and cut it. Haha. Nice. Hard to find a big one now.

Great. Your lucky to be here to tell us. A split second. Did you have your helmet on. I hate the thing, but if I’m cutting in tight quarters, I’ll use it. I saw last week they made moonshine with a Honey Locust. The pods. Turned out great. So they said. You probably could use some tonight. Good to hear your still here. :)

No helmet on. Got me in the left kidney instead of the head. It was a glancing blow. I never saw it coming. It broke off a tree behind me. Had the face cut done, and was doing my back cut when the tree started to fall. Took 2 steps then got hit.

Yeah, that would give you a headache. How’s your kidney. Did the tree split as you were cutting. I started cutting at 14. My dad got a saw and said, go cut some wood. Haha. I didn’t do that to my kids. A lot af close, learning, calls at that age. Years ago I had a Husky 65cc. Talk about a saw that would scream. Make sure you cut that piece that hit you up. Save that for special occasion. And a drink.

I dont know where the branch came from. Running a Husky 562 XP with a 20" bar. With the narrow kerf chain and insta rev if flies compared to my 450. Learned to cut working wildland fire, and have perfected it cutting a hundred trees a year off of my place.

You like history Cap, google Lincoln New Mexico. The entire town is a national historic monument, the most intact western town I’ve ever been to. 1860-70. Just stopped into the saloon for a beer, and visited the courthouse with plexiglass covered bullet holes from William Bonney (Billy the Kid) and a dozen other historic adobe’s....

That’s nice having your own wood. And it’s one of those things. I know guys that worked their whole lives cutting in the woods and just something crazy and get the chain up his arm. Ugly. And I know I’ve been missed more than once. You sound thankful. And nice saw. She’ll scream. My next saw will be a Stilh. I don’t like the new Husky’s. If I lived close to you, I’d bring over a nice bottle of Cuban rum. I’m glad your ok. I bet you’ll be looking up for awhile. Scares the crap out of you. Haha.

Cool. I will. I love that stuff. You would probably love the old forts around here. Especially Louisburg . It’s in Cape Breton. I always wished I could dive. There are a lot of old wrecks around Cape Breton. Hopefully some day I’ll get to have a beer there too. :)

Drinking this mixed with rootbeer. Trying to find a good sipping rum. This is better than Capt Morgan but not top shelf by any means.

Snowing hard now. No wind yet, so it is very beautiful. They are saying it’s going to be a Nor’easter. Which means high winds and lots of snow. . Lol
