we are looking to buy a windshield for our new pioneer 500. I see there are full windshields and half windshields. What is the difference/advantage of each option?

Full is great in cold weather but very hot in warm.I actually own both and am very surprised how good the half works. Half is my personal favorite.

It's hot in Mohave and doesn't rain much . Wear a helmet with a face shield or goggles no windshield or back window . You will me much cooler and and virtually dust free .
I have a RZR with a Ryfab glass windshield and it is the ultimate . Has a flip up vent all the way across the the bottom for great air flow and in 30 seconds I can fold the entire windshield down ! I dont know know if there is anything like this available for the p5 but the option to have it or not while out on a ride is the the BOMB .
Windshield up in the rzr creates a vortex that makes the cab a dust bowl . Windshield down is dust free .

I have the hard coat tip out, great in the rain and in cold weather. 3,000 miles no scratches. I leave it on all year long and love it. With it fully tipped out you don't get spiderwebs and skeeters in your face.

I've had both and prefer the Honda full windshield w/hard coat. Still no scratches and you can ride in the rain. Come winter, you can ride without the frigid air blowing directly in your face.

Doesn't the full windshield get covered with crap?
That was my thinking when I got the half high.
Seems like it would be horrible in the rain or snow with no wiper.
I would like it for the warmth though.

Works fine in the rain and most of the time in the snow. Once in while you have to use your hand to wipe the snow off. The only time I had to stick my head out the side was when there was freezing rain.

I clean mine with Plexus and it seems to work a bit like RainX and rain beads and just rolls off. I haven't had any issues with snow either but I always carry a few bottles of water with me in case it gets dusty or muddy to the point visibility is poor. Just pour some water on it and clean it off during one of our beverage stops!!

Well, you Yankees :))) might have a bit of trouble with heavy snow, but with a half window, it might be in your lap. Rain X lets you ride in the rain, and no it doesn't get covered with crap. If we were closer, I'd let you try mine out.

Well, you guys are twisting my arm!
Maybe I should get one just for winter.
If I remember right, they were expensive as hell.

Yeah, if you get the hard coat (which is the only way to go, IMO) I want to say that it was over $300.00.

I'm not sure what they list for but I recently trashed my cheap optical Honda tilt out and bought the Honda Hardcoat tilt out. I paid $379 from my dealer.

Did your old one get scratches? I've had the hard coat from day one and have literally no scratches.
