Going through the buggy after our trip last weekend. First up was to pull the skids and I had 3 bolts break off. Should be pretty easy to get out since there is still thread showing. Figured there'd be more since they've taken a beating since the last time I pulled the skids off. Crossmembers all look good but my side rails have taken a severe beating. I'll have to replace them and reinforce with angle iron soon. I've got a little slack in the steering somewhere that I'm still chasing. Think it might be slop in the rack bushing since everything else seems to be tight.

I'm running 2.5" ID in rear on Fox QS3
You must have gotten rid of all the plastic and put some different end caps on? The fox shocks come with a 3” rear diameter spring ... i was first going to try some spring of Joeys that were 2.5 and they did not quite work. @GlockMeister

How did those caps for the reservoirs work out for u? The fronts are pissing me off how they pop when they extend down into a hole. I was kinda of waiting to see if those fixed that problem before I ordered.

Yep, I got rid of all the plastic. The little boots just held mud in there.

I've got about 350 miles on these now in some pretty gnarly stuff and have no complaints. Only time it bit me in the ass is when a stick or something jammed into the retainer and a rock magically wedged itself between the retainer and the shock end. Had the spring tweaked and it rubbed the shock body. I don't think having the plastic would have done anything to help it in that case either, but I can't say for sure.

there is a plastic piece that you can get that will fit the the 2.5 better on a shock that take a 3.0 but I can’t remember the name of it ... it is like a collar spacer - helps to keep the spring off the body of the shock ..

Adding the caps and really getting the shocks charged up made a huge difference .. I think it was the leaked gas that started me looking to make suspension adjustments.. A easy way to tell if your shocks need to be recharged is by simply turning the dial from soft to firm...if you can feel a good indent as you change you are probably alright.. when I took mine in I could almost make the rotation with one finger on the dial. There was nothing to stop the dial at each location - if that makes sense

10-4. I'm pretty sure mine has lost its charge.

I hated those rear shock plastic covers. Broke 4 of them on my 2 sets of Fox shocks. Taking them off was a good idea

If you're referring to the spring retainer as the end cap, the stock springs have a plastic spacer that accounts for the slight overhang. 2.5" ID springs fit perfectly on the spring retainer without all the plastic pieces.

Figured out where my slack was when I pulled the wheels to change brake pads. Damned driver upper SATV arm. Anybody ever figure out how the hell to prevent this from loosening or should I just check it every ride??

rears are 3” diameter
Front are 2.5” diameter

at least on the foxes

Wasnt there an older version of the fox rear shock that took the 2.5" spring?

Mine are newer and were 3".
