Agree. Folks have been camping and exploring with the help of vehicles since vehicles were invented. It is not a new thing though all the aftermarket companies in the US sure think so (including my employer).

Lots of European explorers in Africa after WWII in Land Rovers were some of the original “over landers”

@100 acre that’s not overlanding. It’s just setting up a base camp and exploring from there. While your adventures are great... and there is a lot of common area between what you do and overlanding in its purest form. Let’s try and keep it on track and not burry this thread in a bunch of crap. Not trying to be a dick... but I know how you get when it’s a subject of passion. You’re like a teenage boy sticking his peter in a warm spot for the first time. Spread that content out rather than blowing your load all at once!

What's the longest overland trip anybody has done in their Pioneer? I'd love to just set off into the wilderness for a few days to explore and put in some miles. I remember reading an article about a couple guys taking two ATV's on a 600-700 mile journey up the west coast that looked like a blast. It was part of the reason I bought my Rubicon but there are only a couple places even remotely close where I could freely explore, and even then I'd be able to cover all of it in a day. I put close to 100 miles on over the course of a day in the Kisatchie National Forest in North LA. I had everything loaded and packed onto the bike to do a couple nights in the woods, but found out when I got there that I could only camp in designated areas so I just offloaded everything into the back of the truck and camped on the trailer :(.
