Hay @Montecresto sorry that happened to you. One of the reasons I only buy an 8’ bed when I’m pulling my 5er. The other reason is the short bed bucking, better with bags in the back but still did it. I always had 8’ Bed trucks and one time I let my wife pick out the truck and it was a short bed. Delt with it for about 3 years and I’ll never do it again. I know you can’t change that now.
Thanks Remi. No I can’t change that now, and I don’t like 8’ beds. Looks like there’s plenty of options without doing that though. I just need to research what everybody's posting here and see what works best for me. :)

Thanks bro!!!

I’m betting your Wolfpack is like mine in that there is a generator up front and the trips under the nose are now minimal.
Yep, we have the same RV.

How do you like your Momentum?

I seriously looked at one but just couldn’t get there with the check book intact. That and gvwr was beyond my 350.

Did you have the steel AUH or the Aluminum?

Love it. I have a 349M and it is a bit over what the F250 is rated for on pin weight. Airbags and an onboard compressor help with that. Otherwise I’m good

Had the Aluminum one

Short boxes are really not the best choice for a fifth wheel or gooseneck hauler. Better to do a little more research and buy the right rig for the job. If your stuck wanting to stay with the short box. Maybe should be sticking with a bumper pull.

I don’t like sliding hitches, seen a few problems with them. But looking for alternatives.

Be nice to know if anybody’s had experience with these:

Sidewinder with Rotating Turret for Short Bed Pickups | etrailer.com

Since you are considering new hitches, maybe it would be best to know what you already have?

I’m guessing a B&W fifth wheel hitch?

Judging by the cab it appears that you have a 17+ super duty?

Sorry for getting off on the AUH / gooseneck adapter bent....I should have asked these questions first.

What would you consider to be nice to haves in a new hitch?

Hopefully this weekend I can pickup my Wolfpack from the dealer ( installing a pullout step) and can get you some dimensions of the same rig on my ‘16 for cab and hitch clearance on my 70 lb steel AUH to help you in your search.

I have run both the Anderson and Reese goosebox. I really liked the Anderson but very early on discovered it’s one weakness get a 2017 and on Ford super duty. I had to make an emergency stop and the forces acting on the hitch crushed the ridges in the bed slightly. This in turn allowed the Anderson to rock a little front to rear and bowed the hitch badly. The hitch had 3/4 “ of bow in it.

Anderson stood tall and replaced the hitch under warranty but the only way to run the new one was to repair the bed. I now have
A goosebox and a 4” offset ball on the B&W turnover

Pulling a Grand Design Momentum with an 2017 SB Super Duty. The Anderson delivered a slightly smoother tow but the goosebox is a great unit as well

Is the Goosebox the part that attaches to the RV?

Yes, it replaces the pin box and connects to a gooseneck ball on the floor of the bed.

I had the Convert a ball adapter and I hated it. Sold it and bought a Reese Goosebox and it was a good investment. I'd take Jackal's word on RV towing with his professional top level experience!!!

Forward movement turning without contact between the cab and RV, and a fixed (non slider) hitch set up.

Yes, absolutely. But it sounds like what he’s got is what I’ve already got and what you sold, shrug.

Wondering about this seemingly simple and inexpensive solution. 5” offset, would have kept me out of the cab.....???

How do you connect your safety chains?

Safety chain kit had not arrived when the pictures were taken. They bolt to the goosebox and hook to the safety chain loops in the bed (part of the B&W turnover ball kit)
