My wife and I took the talon out for the first time yesterday. I work evenings so we got in a few hours. This is such a huge step up from arctic cat. I love the transmission. More room and storage. Instrument panel is a little small. Thursdays are one of my days off so I was going to go back to the trails with my WR 250f motorcycle. But instead I took the talon. I've never done that before. My son says I'm officially old now because I opted for the sxs.
What year do you have? On my '19, the first thing I did was relocate the dash behind the steering wheel. Other than the 10-80 pre-filter, it was the best mod I did

2024. Not sure what you mean by relocating the dash. I'm also considering the 10-80 prefilter.

first few years of the Talon had the gauge cluster in the center where they now have switch blanks on the newer models.

Do it right now, otherwise your stock $45 filter will need replacing by ~600 miles. I just replaced my original stock filter at 16,043 miles because I felt guilty, a pleated paper filter can't last forever. The only difference was that I used oiled foam Uni filter pods because 10-80's kit wasn't available yet. You'll have to get your own mileage estimate with the Desert Craft pod filter, no one has posted that 'number' yet.

When I say I'm considering it, that means I'm trying to break the news to the wife that we need to spend some more money on a new machine. I don't think she's happy about cutting holes in new plastic.
I'm also considering a winch and spare tire rack.

You don't tell her how to do pink jobs, she doesn't get to tell you how to do blue jobs ... says the divorced guy -

Just do it, it's so clean she'll never know it happened. If you get caught, tell her that new filters cost $45 and will need to be replaced every 600 miles or so. :p

Something I recommend for everyone is to wear some sort of hearing protection, SxSs are quite mechanically noisy, a good reason for earmuff communication systems.

It only hurts until you get the prefilter installed. Then it looks factory. Mine was the previous version but both look factory.

I too recently (August 2024) switched to the side by side after a 6 hr brutal off-road non stop ATV ride with some friends in June. I was hurting for 5 days after that ride. It was after that I said it was time. I’m also a motorcycle guy and would have been more comfortable all day on 2 wheels (KTM 500) than my 4 wheel can am max 850. I haven’t much time on the new pioneer 1000-5 yet but got to plow twice with it and it’s so much more comfortable than plowing with the ATV.
