2023 Talon 1000R Fox Live Valve in Matte Navy Blue

Leaving in the AM to drive down to WV to pick it up and bring it back home.

Trail Armor skid plate set already ordered. I almost snagged one of the 10-80 Dirt Sports Talon Intake Pre-filter tube kits to match, but another forum member was just a few seconds faster than I was. I did get the Desertcraft pre-filter and Filterwears cover (with the 10-80 logo) ordered, so I'm just waiting for @highpocket74 to add some more tube inventory again. Finally, I need to order the SuperATV glass windshield w/wiper and rear windshield w/vent, so I'm waiting on @Hondasxs for a club discount.

Other than what I consider the "must have" items detailed yesterday in an earlier post in this thread, I'm going to take a slow, steady, even, thoughtful, researched, and measured approach to all the aftermarket stuff I buy for the Talon compared to how I did with the Pioneer.

Other than the two more items I literally just ordered minutes ago, of course ... 🤣

First decent once over this AM.

No obvious nuts or bolts not tightened, but I found three improperly installed push pins.

Fluid levels all good.

The useless front bumper was scratched up during shipment, so the dealer has ordered a replacement (on back order) and will be shipping it to me. I asked if they could just cut me a check (I will eventually install an aftermarket front bumper), but they said mother Honda covers all shipping damages, so that's not an option. Boo.

Otherwise, everything else looks to be in place.

Reusing two larger Packout boxes, but I needed some smaller ones to fit the Talon. The 16QT cooler + organizers for first aid and the 'Snackle Box' (thanks for the proper name, @Adam490). Just need that AJK Offroad box to get here with the adapter plate and locks.

Packout Mount Locks



EDIT:

I do not like how the Packout Locks install on a Talon. They will likely mar and tear up the rear plastic border of the storage area if left installed. The tongue portion is too long.

Also, due to how the locks ride up on the plastic, they are not parallel with the Packount mount. They are slighlty angled. This makes it very difficult to install and remove the bottom Packout boxes.

AJK Offroad, you need to make a shorter version for the Talon so they don't lay across the bed border AND so they lay flat with the Packout mount so R&R of the boxes is not difficult.

Mount is stellar, but I've edited my post above to reflect my opinion on the looks.

Will only use the Cobra cable if leaving the machine unattended, since the Packout locks only secure the bottom packouts. They only keep honest folks honest anyway, so ...

FYI: Just in case anyone was wondering, the lighter blue on the 2023 Talon 1000R FLV in Matte Navy Blue is called MAT KYANITE BLUE METALLIC.

Installed the 10-80 Dirt Sports pre-filter kit today. Easiest install save the HondaSXS Club Add-a-Light kit on the P1K5.

The only PITA was all the dang push pins to R&R the plastics.

Hats off to @highpocket74 for an absolutely stellar product. If you own a Talon and don't have one, your next purchase for your machine is a no-brainer.

Been working with Ian over @ Crossroads3D.com to come up with a better way to mount the Auxbeam 8-gang switch (A8) in the upper dash slot of the '22+ Talon. His previous design installed the same way as the OEM switch plate (mounts from inside the hood area), which used the top of the cubby just below it for support. I told him that, down the road, I might install the Rugged Radios intercom & radio setup, which requires you to cut out that cubby. This would leave the upper dash plate with no support.

So he came up with something that no longer requires that lower cubby to support. It installs from the outside, but has tabs and screws that secure it from the inside. It's beefier than the old design, too, as my original plan wasn't to put the A8 there, but to mount a RAM ball and use it for the tablet mount (blank plate). Decided against that, so the A8 panel is going there.

Here is the new design for 22+ Talons. I'm pretty sure you can order it online now (I am not compensated for any sales).

EDIT: The M3x12MM screws I bought were too long, as they would not seat all the way into the A8. I put some small nuts on them to allow me to use them instead of spending another ~$2 on four new screws (5th pic posted).

At some point, I need to stop ordering things and start installing them.

Light bar physically mounted. Waiting on 1.5" loop clamps to install plate that Auxbeam circuit control panel, breaker, True AM isolator, and other electrical bits will be mounted on, then I can wire this and other stuff.

Proof of concept: Cut a piece of plastic from the P1K5's OEM skid plate to use as a base to install all the electrical bits in the Talon. Once I have it figured out where I want each component to be installed, I'll replicate the panel with a piece of aluminum, transfer everything to it, and install it in place of the plastic panel.

Also installed and wired the AUX battery.
