Living in the country, I already have my own well and have been considering and old type windmill to install if ever needed to pump the water. Other possibility is simple an old hand pump that would replace the submerged pump if electricity was not available. If all else failed, I drank water from the creeks/rivers growing up and it did not kill me.

As for ammo ...... haha, got enough for a small war. Thousands of rounds of various rifle/pistol ammo and reloading supplies, not counting 10's of 1000's of round of rimfire 22LR's, 22mag, and 17hmr. And YES, it will kill a moose. May not drop him in his tracks, but surely can kill it.
Isn’t there a shelf life on ammo? I have a solar pump on my well, and 6,000 gallon capacity rain collection cisterns, in black water tanks which allow no light in so no algae growth, and the entire house is off grid, wood heat and wood stove in the kitchen. It’s pretty cool now but yeah it would be indispensable in the event of any unforeseen hardships.

Here’s some of my ass-salt mills...
Rain water collection tower next to the barn whose roof I use to collect rain and tanks-currently at 3,500 gallons, fire suppression 5.5 hp gas water pump w/250’ of hose. Plus udder tings not so frightening to the spying eyes of the general population . I’ve dabbled with steam and hit-n-miss engines too. I picked up a few more mills since I took these pix. I do wish I still had my 1880’s Chattanooga Cane Mill. It was moded To be driven by belt via an attached drive train form a model T Ford. Redneck engineering at its finest.
I used to have a Witte, a Hercules and Fairbanks-Morse single piston engines. The latter was Throttle Goverened. They were all belt drive engines.

I guess it may go bad as some point, but I have shot shotgun shell that were REALLY old and worked fine. Some may say a couple of years, but that is crap.

They are still shooting ammo from WW2 that has been dug up or stored. Now if it is soaking in water for a long period some might but a lot of ammo is even safeguarded against that.

Guess my lookk on the end of times. I don't need to have the most ammo or supplies. I just need to shoot the guys with what I need a nd then need to shoot the next guy with what I need. Better to be a better shot with 1 .22 than the guy with thousands of rounds of .22

The problem with where I live is I'm surrounded by millions of Bernie Sanders lovers. So in other words, everything I have should be theirs. ...I do not see many strong communities being put together around here. Another reason why I want to move away.

I know Asheville, have family not to far away and went to AppState. Recommend the book One Second After written by William Forstchen. Based In the local area (Black Mountain) around there. There are good self reliant people in Morgantown and Marian

If I didn't have 6 generations here in the same town and having never had to advertise for work and being able to keep a 15 man crew busy for many years, it is hard to leave BUT the nut jobs are trying to make it easier. Vermont has had the least gun laws and also the lowest crime rates. Yesterday the legislature passed 21 year old requirement, banned assault weapons, banned 10 round or more magazines and allowed for IMMEDIATE removal from anyone who is accused of domestic assault or could be a threat to themselves or others.

Sad.

Damn... everything your currently own is grandfathered correct? I saw a post by Magpul who was airlifting in Cases of magazines to give them out prior too.

At this time everything is grandfathered. There was a rally at the statehouse today with, according to the news, over 1000 people there. (sure looked like a lot more!) The anti gun rally, according to the news, drew "hundreds." Had to be a lot that weren't shown on TV. MagPul did send 1200, 30 round magazines, overnight, and they were all gone at one per person.
What's scary to me is that those kids have been going after the 2nd amendment and now they are going after the first. (Laura Ingraham)

I was taught in high school, (back when we were actually taught about history)
that the second amendment was put in that position to protect the first!

I’ve met and hung out with Bill Fortschen a few times and inadvertently introduced him to his current wife. Try reading his novella “Days of Wrath” it’ll leave you in freak out mode...

I agree days of wrath will make yah think for sure. Most of my time in the shop I listen to audio books similar to those. Changes how you view the world and the thin veil of civility that is balanced on dependance of technology and modern comforts
