Question: A friend with a polaris told me that wiring the radio through the keyed switch means that the hour meter will progress with just the switch on even if the engine is not running as the timer is electrical and not linked to whether or not the engine is actually running. Is that true for the pioneer?????

I question that, and not the case with my polaris, radio is independent from engine data. If power by key is off, then how does something run? No problems on the ACE or Pioneer.

@Slayer , Sorry for the confusion, after a second second read of your comment, an engine hour meter may run with the ignition key on, but thats with or without a radio. Don’t know if the Pioneer is that way. If you just want to listen to the radio when parked without the engine running, then suggest powering radio by a separate battery supplied full time 12v (ie, larger hot winch contactor wire), but be careful not to forget its on and run the battery down. (Trust me I know). Rewired mine after that to a key on OEM harness sources to avoid future dead battery. When I start the Pioneer, the radio comes on at the last station setting, if using Bluetooth from phone, I just hit play. Clear as mud now? LOL.
Heres the @ehart814 method. P500 - MTX Overhead Audio Pod fits!

Ok I bought one for my 500. I have an OEM roof with a bracket right in the middle of the front bar. Is this going to be a problem?

Same here. Just moved the middle bracket 5.5 inches to the right. Got 2 new screws to fill the original holes.

Mine hasn’t moved a bit. I mounted it the same as @Mudder. Solid!!

Also agree, turn the bass all the way up for best sound.
Did you wind up centering yours or did you shift it to one side?

I did not center mine like @Mudder did. It is slightly left of center. I put it right up next to the center clamp on the roof.

Thats what I was thinking about doing....happy with that setup? Plenty of headroom/clearance?

Yes, no issues at all. I am 5'10" and there is plenty of room. Really enjoy it :D

Good point, it sounds better directly overhead. My ham radio mount is on the left.

Anybody know what the wattage/amp draw of this unit is? Trying to figure out how much capacity remains on the subharness once this is installed.

Worked on fitting one of these in a 1000. Had to do some pretty amazing fab work... lol. Got it cut, welded, sanded and primed. Needs two more holes drilled and painted and I should be able to hang it. 93c19d6cd304bb235a8dfa32fb042a1fB03c74cfedd04a5eea5949765d4cdb93
