Well, arrived in New Mexico at the property and it was 38* and there was very light rain…
Woke up this morning to this….

Forecast calling for 90% chance of more of this today….
Made the trip in the Prius this time as I had no need for the truck. And wanted to make good time as it’s just a long weekend turn around….Hope I can get the Prius back out of here Monday…..🤔

Yup. A friend a I went to the camp years ago in his little civic. We couldn’t get up to the camp because of snow. And woke up in the morning to over a foot of snow. We had to go downhill to get to the highway. The car sounded like it was working on one cylinder, opened the engine bonnet, and it was packed with snow, so hard we needed a stick to dig it out. Haha
So don’t do that.

oh my dear southern friends. That is cold for you guys for sure. if u haven't already, heat tape those water lines. I know your air to air Heat pumps arent rated below 40. they will work just not as effective.
I know u dont get the cold like us. Hang in there!

On another note, we are at 18 today. Got 5” of blowing drifting snow. Came through yesterday. was 39 the high and dropped rapidly. Low to mid 30’s in southern Mi is the average High in the winter and low 20’s to single digits at night. my cabin in the north, its 10 there right now 18 for the high thats starting to get to a since of normalcy there Believe it or not. got about 6-7” of snow there. Going up next week snowmobiling For a 3 day weekend.

I too have a Air to Air heat pump at home but its 22 SEER and goes down to 18 odt then kicks to gas below that. The Control times out after 15min of HP run time then kicks to gas as well. the outdoor unit looks like the lunar space module on the side of my house lol.

We have a mini split LG. Supposed to be good for-25 or -30. We don’t turn the furnace on unless it’s to put a little more heat in the basement. First year we saved $1,800 in oil. Cost an extra $300 for electrical. But that’s probably the basement electric heat mostly.
So you know Remi, we’ll have your cold in a few days. Haha. But I guess in a week it’s going to be 50 and rain. It’s 50 here today. And foggy. Snow is all gone again. Not good for the snowmobilers around the camp

Yes, weninstall them. I also service them. There good. I have one in my cabin with two heads. Mainly for the ac in summer. I heat with a wood stove there 99% of the time. I use the HP when the weather is moderate and too warm/coldish for the wood heat

My brother is a refrigeration tech at the container pier for one of the big shipping lines. I’m trying to get him to put one at the camp for Ac. He’s scared someone will take it. He gets them cheap anyway. Haha
Always heat with the wood. But like you say, it would be great for those days it’s just not enough for the wood stove.
