Interested in what your "20 hour first service" set you back on your P1000. Its quoted at around $360.00 at my honda dealer in Deep East Texas. I will have the first one done at the dealer just to be safe but at that price I will be learning to do my own in the future.

They sure take advantage of customers and it baffles me why owners fall for this. If the car/truck dealer told you you have to have 20 hr service people would cry foul.

I know many dealers put the fear into customers with warranty concerns so they think they have to pay the dealer for fear of warranty issues. Dealers use this tactic to keep customers in house. Not very ethical of them IMO.

I never even ask my dealer the cost. I did it myself and it sounds like I saved quite a bit of money and it really wasn't at all difficult.

Yeah you have to pay for the materials + time + Disposal I just do it myself sounds a little high to me does that includes valve adjustment too?

I been shopping around for a P700 this spring and had a dealer tell me a few weeks ago I had to have them do the service to keep my warranty in tact. I left without saying one way or the other if I would buy. Next day the sm calls me to try and sell me on the machine. I told him I could not buy from him and that I thought he was giving my a line of bs on the warranty. He goes on tell me that it part of his job to sell me on the service part of ownership. He then told me that I was not required to return for any kind of service to keep the warranty and he would still like to sell me a machine. Have not gone back and he called me one more time a week later.

I wanted to do my own, but for warranty purposes I paid the dealership to do the first one, just in case. Came out to be right at $290+ tax. Another dealer quoted me $510.00 for the same exact service, so be careful.

I was told $325.
Price on the 2 oil filters 8 quarts of oil and 4 or 6 bottles of diff fluid was $92 from the dealer. I did it myself because thats a big rip when you dont even know that they do all that they are supposed to.
Also ive been told not to worry with the valves that soon to wait til the second one and if there is any problems with the cables surely wed noticed. But i did the oil, oil filters, trans and front and back diffs for.$92

And i dont even know if it says do trans or diffs but i did them anyway. Think it says every 2 years on the trans and i believe the first service is higher than the rest but IMO id do it myself keep recipts and write it in the back of the manual

Honda of Richmond KY charged me $230 for the first service. It did not include the valve check/adj. looking at some of the prices here i think I didn't get took too bad. They said if they adj the valves it would be over $400 but it didn't need it. Just my personal opinion I think they like to do the first service as another quality check, in turn it probably saves them money down the road on warranty work, not that Hondas need that often. I just think it's another form of quality control on a quality product.

About $240 including a couple of roof clamps. They also fished out the safety gas can nozzle from my gas tank.

New here. I did it my self and ordered a service manual. They wanted $ 550.00 to do the 20 hour w/ valve adjustment. And in the owners manual it tells you you can do the service your self and doesn't void the warranty. The service manual has a lot of info it it, like how to adjust the rear doors to keep from rattling. DUGH! Really is worth the money $ 100.00.

@Smitty335 , you could have saved yourself $100 bucks and just bought a lifetime membership to Hondasxs.com($40) and still had money to purchase some accessories for your Pioneero_O. But as I'm sure you already know there isn't a question that has been asked on here that doesn't get answered!

$260 to $500 holy smokes, my dealer made it sound like the valve check was a courtesy from Honda to keep it out of the shop. The dealer made it sound routine I was expecting $100 to $150 they told me the day I picked it up we change all the fluids, put it on the scanner to check everything over and the valves for clearances then your taken care of for 600 miles. There wasn't an oh by the way it can run you upwards of $500.
