Was in a creek at end of ride, when the check engine light came on. And the shift indicator turned to the minus symbol. I couldn't shift. Limped back to car in first. At home it started back up. Manually put in reverse. Washed it. Now it won't start either. Idk

Completely dead electrically or any display now? Tried neutral or emergency shift tool and rocking (ensure in neutral or a gear with brake interlock if no starter action.? Fuse checks OK? If it turns over, could be water in gas via vent. Just throwing out some guesses, good luck. P500 - Display and Shift Dead

The dash did work when this happened but displayed the minus symbol instead of gear. Check engine light was on. And it would turn over.

But it did start now a day later. And shifted. Some thing must have got wet. I need to determine what, so I can put some dielectric grease on it

Alright fellas finally got the call from the dealership and they found the problem and got her all patched up. The tech guys found a new issue with the p500 they said they hadn't seen before my rig has more miles than they said they ever had one come in with and that could have attributed to the issue. on the back side of the motor just above the rear drive shaft and gear position sensor there are wires from one of the sensors that comes across the back side of the engine had rubbed and vibrated against the motor and were grounding/shorting. They said that lots and lots of riding would probably and eventually cause the same problem on all p500's. It was an easy fix they said but devastatingly difficult to find. On the plus side I talked my dealer into throwing in the extended warranty when purchased as part of the deal and it actually paid off this time and they covered it no charge! I will post pics of the wires in question as soon as I figure out how on this phone lol!

Mine is not bad, but I can see where those with more mileage would have problems. It's definitely a need to fix thing though!

I just went ahead and snaked some of that corrugated wire covering over the harness as added protection.

Rubbing on my 2017 too. Very hard to get to but may take the left rear tire off to get arm in there. At least three rub spots and cables are only in a thin plastic sleeve. Little or no slack to work with. PITA. Agree with @Hondasxs to make a post for visibility to others. Going to buy some 1/2 inch cable wrap.

Mine looked ok, but it's sure worth it if this keeps you from getting stranded somewhere. I'll do it just for something to do..

Also check the wires running up the side of the rectifier/regulator. Mine was rubbing bad there! C91414B2 056F 471C 91A6 C5E36DC82ECF
