That’s partially because “f” series is everything sold. It’s from half ton all the way up to semis, it’s referenced as the complete line. Some of the other companies have various names for different trim, models, weight capacity and divisions. Every Ford truck sold including big flatbed semi is an F series.
The article talks about 1/2 ton trucks, I don't know why they listed them as f- series in the chart.

Ford F-150 is still best-selling truck. But fight for No. 2 is hot

The other link was broken.

Wonder if it had been deleted and reprogrammed, there is a bajillion horror stories of reflashing the super duty gone wrong, most jack up the transmission.

This goes back to trouble shooting flowchart....

Did you mess with it 》Yes 》 You dumbass 》Return to stock.
I have a 2017 Super Duty and people ask me all if time why I don't delete it and yet they are same people that have deleted theirs and b**** about the truck throwing codes all the time.

They had the 6.0 in 03. Good thing you had the Dodge otherwise you’d now be driving the Dodge

Technically both the 7.3l and 6.0 PSD were available for Ford in 2003.

Pops went with the 7.3l in a ccF250 4x4 Fx4. He still has it and it’s only got 120k on it.

I had a 2000 7.3l and went to a 2005 mega cab CTD with a g56. After a hand full of gasser 1/2 ton Fords I came back to Ford diesel in 2012. Snatched up a leftover 16 cc F350 FX4 Srw late in 17.

My ‘16 F350 6.7 blows the doors off the ‘03 7.3l with the same load, but I sure love the 7.3L.

Off my soap box now...

Right on @Vikes79 and one of these day the Emission police are going to start cracking down and that will cost you even more just not worth it to me.

Already happening in several states....California as an example.

I wouldn’t have the time nor patience to swap my exhaust system for yearly inspections.

Luckily there aren’t any inspections in SD.

Someone mentioned ecodiesel earlier and some problems, so I've spent the last 1hr reading ecodiesel stuff. $600 f***ing dollars for the cam timing set for those. Holy s***!

I think the Dodge ecodiesel only has 240 HP and 420 ft. lbs. torque.

It

It's some sort of intangible product that keeps some peoples panties in a wad because we will all perish as a result of it but smart people know the Zombie Apocalypse will be our demise much sooner

That sounds right. The whole discussion has kinda morphed into a brand/diesel argument type thing, so i mentioned it. I also see people saying 28MPG (and more) with the ED. Impressive in a big ole pickup.

the Ford eco diesel uses a rubber timing belt... sounds insane to me. I know the first year ram ecodiesel had some problems. Mostly emission crap. A couple guys I know run them and love it. But you can get a 3/4 Cummins cheaper most of the time. Mind boggling to me.

Ford...eco diesel? You mean ecoboost?

I saw 2 things with the ecodiesel: the "cam gear slip" and some tossed rods. The rods were supposedly traced back to cross threaded con-rod bolts at the factory (Fix It Again Tony).
The cam sprocket bolt has a TSB, and most of the hype from that seemed to come from one person who had done youtube videos about it and a magical diesel shop in Utah that could "fix" the issues before they went. The videos failed to mention anything about what was fixed...and it seemed very deliberate in its' vagueness. He had a large number of critics to say the least, and had also been banned from some Dodge forums for whatever reason. His truck had like 140,000 miles when the cam thing happened, and was nearing 200,000 before he took his own life. Just a sad thing.

The rest, as you said, seems like normal diesel stuff to me.

But your point about price is well taken; That 3.0 is a COMPLEX little engine that can't be cheap to build. Maybe @CumminsPusher should be our guide and all go 12v.
