Lmao, yeah I hope to never be in that situation. :D That would be a trail I’d have unhooked the tear drop to ride which would mean doubling back. Pretty much it seems to me that overland treks have to be strictly routed and planned.

Definitely the further out you get the more strict you'll need to be with your plans and there is a much smaller margin for error.

Right, it can take a lot of pre planning and prep work, but caching fuel and supplies is one way to extend the length and duration of a trip. I’ve done it many times for backpacking trips.

Sweet! That's what I had in mind. Having done it, is there anything you DON'T like about it? Would you do it again, or would you take a different tack?

And one final question: Do you have a pic with your sxs loaded and the tent folded down, packed for travel?

Steve
Been on two trips to Colorado (two weeks each time)with this setup and so far it has worked out great. The rack needs to be lowered about 6” just haven’t got around to it yet.

Has anyone seen the maxtrax minis for UTVs? Wondering if anyone has experience with them and has any ideas on mounting them on top of the roof. Seen them mounted many different ways on overlanding rigs.

When I bought my 2nd gen I was going to do the full RTT and outfit it for overlanding but the other guys that got me into it lost interest and sold their rigs shortly after I got the truck. Great looking setup!

What tires and RTT do you have? Also, anything you'd change or do differently in regards to the setup?

Apparently u guys that have the tent in the air w the ladder don’t drink a lot of beer! The hammocks would be more my style ,wouldn’t break ur neck when u went to take a leak!

If ur just going to hang around ur truck for a week just get a camper shell and take off on hundred mile treks where ever u decide to park ur truck. The possibilities are endless out west in Nevada.Taking off for couple hundred miles one way w ur pioneer would be epic! Like others have said u need more than one machine, just so u don’t feel so Lonely, scared of breaking down out of cell service, need more fuel,if u watch the weather, don’t need much ,running out of beer would be bad.If ur going to go to places like u go in Moab where u flip over or break ur drive shaft ,u might want to take the easier way around.Other than that taking off on a big adventure for a few days would be great!

It’s doable even in Moab.. but it’s nice to be able to share the load between machines. 3-5 is about perfect!
