But your not explaining that when we lock it Into 4lo, why do the front wheels spen together? 4 hi does not but 4 lo yes. @Montecresto , I don’t believe what a dealer says. They could find the arce hole with both hands most of the time. My friend that works in the glass building, that’s a ford headquarters in Dearborn for those of you in Reo Linda lol, says it does lock in 4lo NOT 4hi and that has nothing to do with the rear lock on the dash being engauged or not, that’s totally separate. So I’m gona believe the designer over a dealer IMO

There isn’t any Ford pickup that has a factory front locking or LS option period....not even the Raptor has it.

Ford is simply not going to take the liability of this.

It’s also not possible to have a front ls that only engages in 4wd low...that design doesn’t exist in any Ford or Dana axel used in Ford trucks. A 4wd low front locker would be possible as it could be controlled via the ecm.

The reason you see wheel spin on both tires with your open front is that neither have traction. The same can be duplicated by placing the rear of your open diff truck on a set of jack stands and putting in gear. (Plz don’t do this for safety sake) Both tires will roll forward.

In a open diff 100% of available torque is applied

The rear electric locker will engage with the button regardless if its in 2wd or 4wd.
And then is it essentially like the old positrac rear end?

The posi is a limited slip so it has spring loaded clutches or cones. You can still slip a wheel with the posi. The elocker mechanically locks both sides together. Normally you would not want the elocker engaged during normal street driving.

It locks just like your p1000, turf or 2wd. Ram has limited slip.

My 1500 and 2500 both automatically lock in the rear when needed.

I really wanted the ford. More options, straight front axle, cool towing cameras among other things. When i test drove one it felt like it had no power steering. Looked at the adaptive steering option and saw failures online with it and a bunch of other random problems. The chevy and dodge outpulled it in towing test. Plus N Alabama has about 50 fords total and gmc had over 50 at my local dealership. I think '20 or '21 will be the new HD trucks. Should be a lot more options and look better.

If you plan to actually drive the diesel Fords.....better ask if the cab has to be removed to work on the low pressure fuel pump. Ford owners I know that have had the pump fail were blown away at the $1,500 labor fee just to remove the cab....plus actual parts and labor to fix the problem. Virtual reality aside, I wouldn't be caught dead driving a Ford truck. What a nightmare!
