I'll probably have extra room if you want to sleep in the camper and not a tent.

Appreachiate the offer, I might take you up on that when it gets closer. I went ahead and got an RV spot so that I would have electricity should I need -

Sounds good. I'm not a great planner but about a week or 2 out I should have a decent idea of what's happening. I'll get my spot booked now just to be safe.

They don’t charge your card unless you don’t show and don’t cancel. No harm in booking now.

I like being a trend setter! Lol. @Windrock1000 @Ragnar406 @Tramguage1 @my99svt

We might have to use our own channel at takeover since we’ll be able to hear and talk so much farther than others. Lol.

We use a dedicated channel (within the FRS spectrum) here on our N Alabama rides that only opens on our radios for us.

Helps a lot with reducing the “noise” on the FRS channels. Being able to monitor multiple channels you can keep one of the FRS channels with a higher squelch setting so only people close to you or with higher output radios can open the channel on your radio.

You would get better results using a uhf frequency like the MURS channels for hills, rocks and forest from my research. VHF works better on west coast aka flat with little obstructions.

@Ragnar406 what you think the range would be in the tow vehicles while traveling to the Takeover?
Like if you put the radio in your Truck? I am not sure - 5 to 10 miles or more - it all depends on the terrain and your antenna set up. Personally I would use a handheld and hook to a small mag mount antenna before trying to swap back and forth.
Note that while the mobile unit can have a louder audio volume - the main issue with people hearing and understanding the handhelds is going to be the type of Speaker mike they use. the Baofeng speaker mics are junk. I would use a real Kenwood or the Btech at min.

MURS (freq range 152.8200 to 154.600) is in the VHF range and the FRS and GMRS channels are in the UHF range

Looking to see how you get it mounted, the unit and antenna. I ordered a radio recently and trying to figure out mounting so I can be prepared when it comes in. Thinking of using a clamp for the ROPS for the head unit, and not sure on antenna. But probably on the rear vertical frame

You are absolutely correct, and I wasn’t considering it. I was in a hurry with a borrowed second radio getting the squelch setting to work correctly. So I could throw a channel into a crew radios.

We should pick a freq and squelch tone and make a 3-4 of HondaSxS channels in the MURS range.

When you guys start putting this in words that @JTW and I can understand. Then we'll be making progress. Lemme know
