I bought one on Tuesday's sale and it should be here today. I can't wait to get it mounted up.

I'm from Freedom, we should put some miles on Lake Winneseptic this winter! I like to go up to the Bay and ride Duck Creek too. Nice winding river.

Finished up my switched ground for reverse lights in reverse and with the dash switch. I found that using chassis ground through the switch and to the lights caused a back feed to the transmission ground signal which kicked the transmission out of gear. To eliminate the backfeed, I added a diode before my dash mounted switched ground. I found a mini fuse sized diode AC Delco 96500202 which is a GM fog light diode and it fits in a little fuse mini fuse holder Littlefuse p/n 0fhm0001xp. This allows the machine to provide ground through the diode but does not allow ground back from the lights and switch when the dash switch is on. Double check the mounting orientation such that it is blocking ground the correct direction. The marking on the diode looks like a vertical line with an arrow pointing towards the line. The arrow should point away from the lights and added ground

I finished up my other door today. This was a great idea and proof this forum really kicks ass.

I also cut some 3/32 rubber sheet to fill in the shifter holes. By removing the 2 bolts in the dash I was able to pinch the rubber between the dash and dash mount. For 30 minutes of time and free material it beats not having it.

Added an override switch for my fan tonight. The harness allows the fan to be turned on with a switch on the dash or function normally if the switch is off. The switch is wired through a relay with a 30 amp fuse.

Next up on my list of things to do is my rear frame crossmembers. Both are bowed a bit and both have been pulled away from the oil pan twice. I thought about just adding 1/4" flat stock to them but I really want something a little beefier than that. Other guys have done tube or solid stock inside the Honda formed channel which would probably work. Mine is going to have formed plate. Somebody posted this link from Ruffstuff a couple weeks ago and I knew it was what I wanted . One of these will be welded to the bottom of each crossmember around the oil pan.

How much were they? Is there a reason you didn’t go with box?
These were $22.50 each. These are 3/16" thick. The reason I didn't go with tube is that these will fit under the stock crossmembers rather than inside. This will eliminate the bow of my skid plate by making the crossmembers the same plane as the tube frame. Additionally the formed plate will offer the stiffness of a similar sized tube or angle that would have fit inside the crossmembers. I know a couple guys have gone with solid bar stock but that didn't interested me.

Interesting.. I need to do mine but haven’t decided how yet

Made some progress on the crossmember reinforcements today.

Main goal is to take the bow out of my skid plate and pull the crossmembers away from the oil pan after I crunched the pan last summer

Interesting... how solid is it when it’s loaded in the air?


Rock solid. The hoist is rated at 6500lbs. Even my F150 feels great on it. First job will be brake lines on the Pioneer and then the front diff swap on my Bronco

Welded my frame gussets in today.

Finally figure out a way to make it a bit easier. Used my dad's 4 post lift. The paint finish isn't perfect since I was in a bit of a hurry but the skid plate mounts to them anyway. I did pre paint and mask the gussets before welding so the insides are painted.

I like those... did they allow for a good flush fitment?
They tuck into the stock crossmembers but the bends protrude to the bottom of the square tube frame rails. I wanted the support of these for my skid plate so the fit is perfect.
