So here is the flip side to bigger is better and I would consider what your needs are, how much room you have to maneuver it and where you will store it.
I bought a 700-4 in a bit of a rush, they had trailers on site and I did the same thing, thinking bigger was better and the 6 1/2 x 12 was $1199.
So when the dealer loaded it up, nearly all the weight was on the tongue of the truck. The back axle of the SXS was about 4 inches behind the trailer axle.
I think my tongue max is 750 lbs and guessing I was passed that. I didn't hit any harsh bumps taking it home but guessing I used up 1/2 the travel of the truck's rear end.
It rode fine but now I wish I had just bought a 6 x 10 so I could just run it up against the front tube and strap it down quickly.
The 700-4 is balanced on the trailer at 35" away from the front tube of the trailer.
When not in use, my 6 x 12 is really front heavy. Not easily to lift by hand and move it even a few feet.
Just something to consider.
Lastly, I will make this work to my liking but it will take a little more time and money.
I may need 12' feet some day and will be glad if it happens but day to day, a 6 x 10 would have worked better.
