Alder is good but must use thumb size branches with bark removed or so I was told by an old Alaskan fellow...always worked for me.Cut it and let it dry and the bark come off pretty easy...easier to buy pellets. Can't comment on furniture grade alder.

Hey Caper...didn't mean to offend you.

I have tried twice to get a permit to bring a shotgun into/thru Canada for bear protection...answer...you don't need a gun...our bears are friendly and pepper spray works much better...request denied. Perhaps "hate guns" was too strong but it's clear they don't want Yankees to have guns.

Pretty much gave up my trip to AK on the Bandit but if they ever open the border I might want to take a boat up there and do some fishing and camping...if that's allowed.

Haha, you not offending me. As for guns, what do you want. Remember, I’m a hunter too. I’m also a gun club member. No problem getting any gun. Just need money. Haha. Well shouldn’t say that, Justin banned AR15 and a few others. But it’s up to the people that own them to get rid of them. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I can fly out west with one but I use one of my buddies. 😊
I know you can take even a handgun across if you say you’re going to Alaska. Haha

Maybe the handgun thing changed. A couple years ago they allowed a hand gun in a locked case if you have an AK driver's license. Strictly enforced I was told.
