Lmao.. pics??

I was talking with @Tramguage1 today about this. @Ragnar406 know I’m not really a strategy guy or a researcher. I’m more of a do it now (half asser) lol. I almost drilled a hole in my windshield last night just to get the antenna wire to fit. Lol. Glad I didn’t do that now.

Pretty sure I posted these somewhere before. You could use the front bumper too if you had height issues. That would probably work better for me also, but like I said a few posts up... not really a planner, more of a just get er done and figure it out later guy.

That is an ideal location to put the antenna -

I don’t think that would work for me..
if you are not going to run LED whips up your Back Rops I would look at how @ohanacreek mounted his antenna - it is lower and more protected from the limbs -

I think I'll mount mine on the rear vertical face of my roof. The mounting point being a couple inches below the roof line. That way it will be up high but when branches come across the top they won't knock it off. Or if I end up wheels up it hopefully doesn't get broken.

Mounting it to the ROPS should in theory give you a better signal, a metal roof would be far better.

Better signal due to height? My roof is 6061 aluminum. What are your thoughts?

Aluminum = no but if it were a steel roof then yes the roof would make the place to mount.

What happens when it's mounted on aluminum? What if I have a bolt that goes through and connects to steel?

Honestly I cant remember - I know it was a well discussed issue (among Hams) when Ford went to the aluminum body. I seem to remember it had something todo with how different metals interact and more of a chemistry to paint thing rather than antenna radiating.

Antennas are something you really just have to try and fine tune. Of course a mag mount antenna will not work on Aluminum But installing the antenna as you say with a bolt that goes through - you should be fine.

I can't vouch for your sexual fantasies but since you spend so much time upside down.......

maybe you should reconsider that!

Welllllll... are you offering to guide me thru it?

I've never played for the other team so you'll have to go "BACK there" yourself.

Let me get a meter on it and i’ll Let you know. It should be fine though. I am just not sure everyone is going to want to mount it like you did
I finally got a chance to put a meter on my set- up the other day swr was 1:1.25 with the mag mount on mine.
