I looked a 30x50 and tried to fit the things I planned on putting in it.

They would fit but it’d take moving 2-4 of them to get 1 thing out every dang time. If I went 40x60 I might have to move 1 thing out to get 1 thing out.

Way more flexibility of use and ease of use.

A few extra feet made all the difference.

I wish our garage was about 18-24” wider than it is. It would make all the difference in how I fit things in.
This reminded me. A lean-to down one side will keep a lot of stuff out of the weather. I live rural and keeping my stuff locked up isn't my main goal.
(2) 4-wheelers, lawn mower, SxS, motorcycle and the tractor all go under the lean-to, and I don't have to move them in-and-out of the shop.

Yep thats what i was thinking 40x60 12' lean on one side gravel floor in lean-to with doors at both ends air compressor in middle of it so you don't half to hear it but in the dry and you can lock it up. 2" of foam under concrete in shop and pex in the floor so you can easily heat it .cant go back and redo that .And congrats on the awesome wife.:)

30x40 is too small. I PROMISE you will wish you'd built it bigger.
Pay off some stuff, sell some stuff, do without some stuff, cut back on spending. Build it as big as you can. You will be glad you did.

PS: We won't disown you if you build it 30x40, but if you park a Polaris in it...
Everything I own except for my house is paid for. And I’ve got nothing I am interested in selling. I’d have the cash to do it by December but I just don’t want to cut lose of $42k cash or finance.

I don't know if they would travel that far but when i get home I'll send you there number. 2 years ago they did a 35 x 40 all steel for a friend he had concrete and doors done and spay insulation put in .He got like 24000 in it.No heat in floor that would be like 3000 more foam and pipe.

You hear stories like that but never seem to replicate when it’s personal transactions!

I don’t remember what the bid said. Other two bids were for $13700 and $12k.
I want to say that was for 42 yards.

It's always been, "the higher the sidewalls are....... the bigger the lean-to can be!"

I thought lean to for my truck. I am worried every time I come home from work my log splitter and sxs will be gone. My house garage is oversized so I have the SxS parked in front of the wife's car and my Mower in front of my truck.

The lean-to can have a floor poured at a later date and the sides can be enclosed.

Only thing I would consider parking under a lean to is my truck or maybe a tractor if I ever get one. Everything else is at risk. I live in th middle of nowhere. Closest neighbors are 1/2 mile east and west and neither can see the house. Neighbor to the west had his hay ring stolen Xmas eve and they left his gate open so his horses got out. When he built someone took the contractors tools out of th job box and used it to remove all his doors and windows and anything else of value. I don’t like leaving anything expensive out side.

Putting it on hold till I can stockpile more cash. When I looked at financing I got sick to my stomach. With th uncertainty in my industry I don’t want to take on enourmous chunks of extra debt.

She wanted the basement done before a shop so we are paying as we go. Framing will be done today. Wish I could build a shop a few grand at a time.
