I haven't made too many mod's recently but I'm up to 1300 miles. I love this machine.

Latest upgrade for summer is the Alien Shade soft top. This thing rocks.

Tight fit and no flapping in the wind, lots of ventilation. It does let water through but it does a great job letting air through and blocking the sun

It fits tight to the top of the roll cage and installs with about 20 bungees

Nice of you to share your toys with the co-pilot.

Not sure about your vision though...…
the one in pink sure doesn't look like a "boy" to me!

She rides with us but she's not as excited as the boys

Review on the Alienshade after 200 miles is "Awesome, great purchase!"

Less wind noise and cooler in the cab. It also doesn't create the water fall effect when water splashes under the Honda hard roof.

The next few pictures show that in deep mud the Quadboss QBT 846s aren't quite as good as a pioneer on stock big horns for muddy traction. Otherwise I still love the new tires.

I recently had an issue with my radiator being clogged with mud so my 1200 mile maintenance has turned into more of a full tear down. Radiator cleaning, skid plate removal for under belly wash, all new oils in everything, brake pads (and replacement front brake shields that melted).

Taking a walk around the machine, you'll see Fox Shocks and I still love them. Easy adjustment and great ride. I'm also really happy without the rear sway bar, the stiffer tires and properly set up suspension leaves no desire for a sway bar. Inside the machine the 4 point Dragonfire Evo harnesses are Awesome!! I love the planted feeling they provide and the support over the shoulders.

Since I have my machine apart for maintenance, I also took some time to make some improvements. I'm working on a 3 gallon gas can mount for between the seat back and the bed. The can is a 3 gallon Rotopax and it's a beefy fuel rated can. I'll provide more feedback after it has a mount

My next mod is a steel frame crossmember near the sub transmission shifter. I have seen several damged sub transmissions and people complaining they couldn't shift high, low or forward reverse if they were hung up. I have noticed this issue even with my 3/8" UHMW skid plates. I've also noticed a couple of my Honda crossmembers have a bow or a dent in them. The factory members are easy to bend back.

Here's the bowed crossmembers
IMG 20180615 163515172

I started with a 29" piece of 2.5"x1.25" x .125 formed angle to make my sub-transmission crossmember

I cut the bend line back 2.5" per side to make a flange to bolt to the inner frame on each end of the angle

At 24.5" wide flange to flange it fits tight within the frame. The rear flange was also notched for the rear brake line and radiator hoses

Final paint and 4 6mm bolts hold it in place in nutserts on the inner frame tubes

The overall width was left at 29" to give a 1/2 lap under my outer skid plates. When I reinstall the center skid I will add 1 more mounting bolt for the skid and a nutsert in the crossmember

I just completed my 1200 mile service. I also took a lot at my spark arrestors and found it was crumbling apart.

I also found a deal on Facebook for a stainless muffler tip. After a bit of internet reseach I found a Two Brothers Racing replacable spark arrestor

New tip

Looks like my next task will be an oil pan replacement. Looks like the cross member behind the engine rubbed through the oil pan.

What kind of skids you running? If I remember you made them your self, what went wrong? Not saying you did anything wrong, just looking for weak point in my skids!

The stock frame cross members are pretty wimpy. I don't think it has anything to do with the skids. We were hung up this weekend several times with all 4 tires off the ground. I'm guessing I point loaded that cross member and bent it into the pan. I'd guess it probably happened here. I was winching forward but trying to climb a stump. We also got a nudge forward over the stump
